| Zusammenfassung: | Dear Orthopterists, it is our pleasure to invite you to Kunming, Yunnan, China for the XIth International Congress of the Orthopterists´ Society. The meeting will be held from 11 to 15 August, 2013, in the Hotel of Yunnan University, situated on the University campus. The theme of this congress is “Orthoptera in Scientific Progress and Human Culture”. We are planning an exciting scientific program to share ideas and the latest findings in the various fields of Orthopterology, and to explore fundamental scientific research regarding all aspects of the biology of these insects, from ecology and taxonomy to physiology, phylogeny, genomics, biogeography, phylogeography, behavior, and control measures. Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province in the South of China, is in the centre of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, located at an elevation of 1,900 m above sea level. Yunnan has some of the most magical and diverse scenery in all of China, and is home to a third of China´s ethnic minorities. The province is also home to the nation’s greatest number of species of flora and fauna. It is known for its mild climate year-round.
