The “Yeast Lipid Conference” (YLC) is an international scientific meeting held every second year (typically in late May) to promote free discussion between scientists working on or interested in all aspects of yeast lipids. The 12th edition of YLC will be held in Ghent, Belgium from the 20th till the 22nd of May 2015. It will start on Wednesday afternoon with registration followed by the opening lecture, and an evening reception. The following two days will be seminars by invited guests with some speakers chosen from submitted abstracts, poster sessions, and social events. This is the first time the conference will be hosted in Belgium and we are pleased that Ghent will be the location for this. All lectures will take place at the Faculty of Bio-Science engineering at Ghent University, which is located at walking distance from the historical city centre of Ghent. It is worth spending time before or after the meeting to discover this sparkling city and visit other points of interest in Belgium. ... [Information of the supplier]
On behalf of the Organising Committee we are very pleased to invite you to the 13th FELASA congress entitled: ‘Brussels Revisited’ to be held on 13-16 June 2016 in Brussels, jointly organized with BCLAS (the Belgian Council for Laboratory Animal Science), NVP (the Dutch Society for Laboratory Animal Science) and BV (the Dutch Society for Animal Technology). The venue of the Congress is The Square, at the heart of the cultural centre of the city. Of course, Brussels is also the political centre of the European Union who have decided to innovate the Directive for the protection of animals used for research (2010/63 replacing 86/609). This new Directive aims to create a level playing field in Europe regarding the use of animals. The scale of the new Directive’s innovations reflects high ambitions to further develop and implement 3Rs alternatives (Reduction, Refinement and Replacement) and governance (by greater transparency). As a result, the Congress will also be of great interest to politicians and public bodies across Europe. The FELASA Congress will attract over a thousand scientists and other professionals from all over the world, if only out of curiosity to see how things will develop in Europe, where animal protection is at an unprecedented high level. The programme will cover scientific, societal and practical aspects of a range of topics of interest for those working in this field. The main themes will address the quality and validity of animal research, how animals and humans are at risk from the same health issues, technological advances, animal welfare, harmonization and exchange of best practices i.e. through education and training and ethical evaluation, and how all this is related to public interests. ... At CECE-2016 we will have the honour of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the European Society for Comparative Endocrinology (ESCE), which endorses the conference. The Society promotes research on endocrinology of all organisms at the molecular, cellular, systemic and evolutionary levels. Furthermore, it strives to integrate the field of comparative endocrinology with many related disciplines (biochemistry, physiology, neurobiology, ecology, etc.). Meetings are organized every other year and special support is provided for young investigators. Interested parties are invited to apply for membership to ESCE at the following website: http://www.escendo.info/ As for CECE-2016, great efforts are being made to offer all attendees a stimulating scientific program and an enjoyable stay in Leuven. The scientific program will include five selected plenary lectures, 24 symposia with 48 State-of-the-Art Lectures and 120 oral communications, as well as four poster sessions. A special symposium will be organized for young investigators, with prizes for the best oral and poster communications.
