The goal of this conference is to bring together wildlife scientists and veterinarians from all over the world interested in diseases of free-ranging and captive animals, and to present the latest advances and stimulate future research in this topic. To this aim, the selected plenary talks and workshops will cover a diverse range of fascinating topics such as infectious diseases, surgery, handling and treatment methods and conservation, among many others. We are expecting a stimulating programme with many interesting scientific presentations supplemented by an entertaining, yet informative, evening programme. We are looking forward to welcoming you at the conference. ... [Information of the supplier]
European Dry Grassland Meetings (EDGM) constitute the cycle of the European Dry Grassland Group conferences devoted to dry grassland of Europe. They have been organized since 2004. The 10th EDGM in 2013 will be held in Poland – the country laying in the area where two different types of climate meet – the mild oceanic with the severe continental one. This has substantial influence on the grasslands in Poland, and shapes their vegetation, flora and fauna. That is why the grasslands in the region have the unique character. Unfortunately, they all share the same problems. Both in Poland as well as in the rest of Europe, have come in the past few decades under threat from intensified agriculture and the consequent changes in land usage, the loss of extensive grazing, which brought about natural succession, afforestation, ploughing and turning into arable land. Other detrimental processes include the eutrophization of the grasslands and interference from alien species linked to negative changes in abiotic conditions. In the light of the serious threats several important question arise: How to protect them? What we need to secure for a long lasting persistence of the habitat? How should we cooperate? These are the questions which we want to ask in Zamość in May 2013. If you want to participate at the meeting please register via the online form. ... [Information of the supplier]
As Chairs of the Local and International Organizing Committees of the Plant Oxygen Group (POG) of Society for Free Radical Research-Europe (SFRR-E), we are delighted to invite you to attend the 11th International Conference on Reactive Oxygen and Nitrogen Species in Plants. The conference will be held on July 17-19th, 2013, at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences-SGGW (WULS-SGGW) in Poland. The Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW is the largest agricultural university in Poland. Its almost 200-years academic tradition and youthful charm along with the historic and modern buildings set in the greenery create one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Warsaw is the capital and the largest city of Poland. The Royal Castle in The Old Town and many other notable buildings are symbols of its long and rich history. The Local and International Organizing Committees will do its best to make the conference scientifically valuable and socially enjoyable. We are looking forward to seeing you in Warsaw 2013! ... The topic of the symposium is "Coleoptera as tool for monitoring of the environment". Nowadays, also due to human activity, we are confronted with rapidly changing environments. In many cases these changes constitute challenging task, which require counteracting management measures. To identify the threads and dangers in time, early-warning systems are necessary. When having implemented the respective management measure, success control is required. For both early warning and success control we need reliable tools for monitoring of the environment. Beetles contribute to our fauna as the largest group of animals, which – except for the salt waters – settled on almost every type of ecosystem. Beetles react sensitive on changes in the environment, for many species the ecological needs are well known and understood. Thus, they have been often included in monitoring programs. However, there are still open questions with respect to methodical aspects and indicatory power of implemented monitoring systems. The symposium aims to highlight the importance of beetles as elements of monitoring programs, to deepen our knowledge, and to pinpoint future challenges and possibilities. ... It is our pleasure to host the International Congress of Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry in 2015 in Kraków, Poland (ICCPB2015). Congress meetings have been successfully organized every 4 years since 1983. ICCPB2015 in Kraków will be already our 9th meeting. We hope it will attract open-minded biologists who are interested in building integrated views of organisms: 'From Molecules to Macrophysiology'. We hope that the atmosphere of the congress in Kraków will be especially stimulating. Kraków with its medieval architecture offers endless opportunities for inspiration and unconventional thinking. It is exactly here, at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, where Nicolaus Copernicus started his scientific education that finally led him to his revolutionary ideas that challenged old models of the universe. ... The international Colloquium "Biology of the Soricidae IV" is the continuation of presumably the most important and fruitful conference series for shrew research. The previous three meetings took place in Powdermill (USA) in 1990 and 2002, and Syktyvkar (Russia) in 2010. About 50 shrew specialists participated in each of them. The presented results and topics were widely disseminated in the two valuable and well-cited Proceedings and the Abstract book from Syktyvkar. The fourth conference will be held at the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (western Poland) from 12 to 14 September 2016. The main expected topics are: Ecology, behaviour & physiology; Morphological, molecular & cytogenetic diversity; Zoogeography & systematics;Parasites, diseases, threats & protection. However, the conference will be dedicated to all aspects of shrew biology. The language of the conference will be English. ... [Information of the supplier]
We look forward to welcoming you to Szczecin, Poland in 2017. Szczecin (How to Pronounce) is the capital city of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. The population is about 420,000. Maritime industry is strong with a busy port and repair shipyard, as well as being a center of service industries. Situated near the border between Germany and Poland, Szczecin is sometimes considered one of the most liberal Polish cities. The Congress will be held at the University of Szczecin from 13-19 August 2017. Registration will start on Sunday August 13th 2017 and ice breaker will be in the evening. ... Wooded rural landscapes are an invaluable natural and cultural legacy of Central and Eastern Europe. A concentration on particular, strictly classified natural sites or plant communities, national and European conservation systems ignores, neglects or undervalues the meta-systems of dynamic rural landscapes dependent on the multiple traditional use of land. Intensive farming and modern forestry, accompanied by the development of conservation models based on segregated land-uses, mean that there are now ‘hard’ boundaries, both philosophically and physically, between spatial units of economic or conservation interest. Despite the increasing knowledge of the role of dynamic processes in the well-being of populations and ecosystems, these boundaries cause substantial reduction of horizontal movements of species. As a result, what had once developed as highly dynamic patchy landscapes, have started to shift towards mostly static and much simplified spatial patterns. In addition, the boundaries discourage researchers from seeing the landscape as a whole; instead, they may concentrate on just what happens inside one patch or type of patch. The conference aims at fostering interdisciplinary discussion and analysis. We seek to encourage the sharing of knowledge from researchers studying wooded rural landscapes and representing from across disciplines: from taxonomy and ecology, from paleo-ecology and environmental history, from ethno-ecology, from spatial planning and landscape architecture, from land use economy involving ecosystem services. We believe such a platform will provide a theoretical foundation for the development of a new management and conservation approach that is essential for sustaining the richness and values of wooded rural landscapes in Central and Eastern Europe. ...
