‘Botany in Pictures’ has set itself the aim of documenting the entire flora of Austria and the adjoining regions in pictures. In the meantime, our digital picture archive has grown to more than 30000 photos whereby we have been able to enlarge our own picture holding with numerous entries from other photo-botanists who have generously made their photos available to us. Thus, we can quickly expand ‘Botany in Pictures’ and continually show new pictures on the internet. Up to now, 1800 species have been documented in ‘Botany in Pictures’, with more than 2700 pictures. Many other pictures can be made available by request. ... [Information of the supplier, translated]
The project “Austrian fungi Database“ has the aim to document extensively presence and distribution of fungi in Austria as well as to present and analyse the available data. It is an Austrian-wide cooperation of numerous professional and amateur mycologists and institutions collecting distribution data or maintaining fungal collections. Coordination is done by the Austrian Mycological Society. The online-version of the database offers the possibility to view distribution maps of over 7.800 fungal taxa and to retrieve the active data status of over 310.000 records coming from more than 7.000 different localities throughout Austria. Besides data on locality and date of collection as exact as possible, each data set comprises important information on habitat and substrate of the records, on determination and scientific documentation of the finds as well as on origin and source of the data stored viz. presently over 5 million single data. Further, on these web pages there are data summaries and graphical displays of the parameters covered by the database for single fungal species ("Profile") as well as for administrative and geographic units (provinces, districts, communities, regions, mapping grid squares) or for the total data set. All data lists and diagrams, as well as distribution maps and distribution data are directly generated out of the database. Project collaboration, especially communication of new records, is highly welcome. ... [Information of the supplier]
These pages enable the rapid look-up of indicator values for vascular plants. They do not contain an introduction to the methodology of indicator values in general. Before using online index values a study of the original literature is recommended. The scaling of ecological indicator values was done according to ELLENBERG et al. 1992, the specific classification of several hundred species was adapted for Austria by KARRER. For online searches, the species names are best input as abbreviations, e.g.: 'ma bi' for 'Maianthemum bifolium', 'ur d' for Urtica dioica, etc. ... ZOBODAT (Zoological Botanical Database, formerly ZOODAT) is a digitally organised biogeographical database including analysis, documentation and communication facilities. Founded by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ernst Rudolf Reichl in 1972, ZOBODAT was taken over by the province of Upper Austria in 1999 and is located at the Biology Centre of the Upper Austrian Provincial Museums. The database contains data on the distribution of animal and plant species and diverse supporting digital libraries. Traditionally most of the data refers to insects and geographically to Austria. However, ZOBODAT can be used for all organism groups and worldwide. At this time some Biology Centre data records that already exist in digital form are not yet completely integrated into ZOBODAT. This applies to part of the entomology collection and part of the invertebrate collection not including insects. As newly set goals besides the traditional representation of distributions on maps, user-friendly analysis possibilities were developed, making rapid inquiries of information on species, geographical areas and area-specific nature protection questions possible. Gradated user access makes differentiated data security possible. ZOBODAT is to be expanded into a user-friendly information system for scientists, nature protection authorities and the public. ...
