Selection of morphological traits from pull down-menus allows the identification of Great Britain's about 60 fern species. Most of the species occur in Central Europe as well. [Editorial staff vifabio]

You can find interesting plants everywhere in Britain and Ireland. This site is intended to help you identify them. On the following pages you will be presented with a questionnaire on the characteristics of the plant you are trying to identify. Fill in the form and press search, the computer will then try and identify the plant you have found. You may also like to use the system to obtain a check-list of plants from a particular habitat or perhaps find flowers of a particular colour to grow in your garden. Feel free to experiment, there are many uses for the system. ... [Information of the supplier]

Neotropikey is an international project based at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, developing identification resources for the flowering plants of the Neotropical region (tropical South and Central America). The key has been coded by a wide range of international collaborators, many of whom also produced the family synopses. Whilst the principal focus of the key is plant families in the Neotropics, some contributors have chosen to include taxa from non-tropical parts of Latin America. ... The release of Australian Tropical Rainforest Plants Edition 6 (RFK6) represents another significant milestone in the development of this information system for identifying and learning about plants in Australian tropical rainforests. Each edition of the system since 1971 has made significant advances in the coverage of plant groups, the numbers of species included, the effectiveness of the identification system, and in the utilisation of current technology. The aim of this new edition is to make identifications possible and easier, and make taxonomic information accessible to the wider scientific community and the population as a whole. Australian Tropical Rainforest Plants Edition 6 includes 2553 species in 175 families, and has attempted to include all flowering plant species present in rainforest of northern Australia in the following life forms: trees, shrubs, vines, forbs, grasses and sedges, epiphytes, palms and pandans. Some species are not yet included, primarily due to lack of specimens for coding features. Several new features have been added in response to user feedback and to facilitate the identification of the additional life forms. ... [Information of the supplier]
... ZipcodeZoo.com aspires to be a useful Field Guide to plants and animals of the world. Often, to be useful, a field guide must have a sense of where you are and what might be found there. Our natural world is rapidly losing its diversity and abundance. To slow this loss, and to better appreciate the natural world, we must begin with local nature. ZipcodeZoo works to bring the natural world to armchair, amateur, and professional naturalists. Our focus is Applied Biogeography: understanding plants and animals in their place, perhaps even your backyard. We want to build an online field guide suited for the amateur naturalist. Here are highlights of what we have done so far: a) We've added information on 2,646,557 species from around the world. Zipcode Zoo is not just for Americans (and more than half our visitors don't live in the land of zipcodes.) b) We've been gathering field observations -- 127,715,643 so far -- and mapping them with the help of Google, to help you see exactly where a plant or animal has been reported. c) Finding just the right species in all of this can be like finding a needle in a haystack. A Proximity Lister and a Region Lister will help you find plants or animals in a geographic area of interest. PlantFinder offers 19 criteria to narrow your selection of plants. PlantFinder's database currently includes 1,555,827 attributes for 209,411 of the 1,105,429 plants on this site. BirdFinder uses location and 102,204 attributes for 4,753 birds. d) We've added popup definitions for 236,201 terms. For many terms such as "abdominal", the popup definition pronounces the term. Short definitions such as that for "entire" simply popup on mouse over, then go away. Other definitions, such as that for "abdominal" open in small windows. e) We've built localized lists of Invasives Near You and Threatened Near You to list local Invasives and threatened species. f) We've made a start at sorting through identifications with Key, a tool that helps you step through kingdom, phylum, class, order, and family to help you decide what species you have at hand. ... This online flora provides access to all published volumes of the Flore d’Afrique Centrale. It covers about 6,000 vascular plant taxa from the Democratic Republic Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. You will find many details of the plants of Central Africa including scientific names and synonyms, illustrations and descriptions, local names of plants, location and habitat information, and ethnobotany. Also included are keys to the genera and species. The Flore d’Afrique Centrale has been published since 1948 and has been digitised from the paper volumes. Errors produced by the digitisation have been corrected, but apart from a few exceptions the text in the online version is identical to the original version. The only things that have been changed are obvious spelling mistakes in the original and the authorities of scientific names have been standardised against Brummitt and Powell’s Authors of Plant Names (1992). ...
