It is our pleasure to invite you to the 1st Congress of Baltic Microbiologists (CBM 2012), which will take place in Riga on 31 October – 4 November, 2012. The Congress will be organized by the Latvian Society for Microbiology with the support from Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). The aim of the Congress is to bring together professionals working in Microbiology from the countries of the Baltic Sea region. It is expected to provide the participants with a complete overview on the main directions of Microbiological studies in the Baltic countries. The Congress will be a unique platform for researchers to present their latest findings and to learn about recent achievements of their colleagues. It is intended to facilitate cooperation and teamwork among scientists from different countries of the region. We believe that the 1st Congress will be an important event in the research and professional activities of microbiologists and that it will contribute to the development of Microbiology in the region. Four international events will be held within the framework of the Forum: Annual meeting of the International Society of Protistologists (ISOP),21st meeting of the International Society for Evolutionary Protistology (ISEP), 1st International Symposium on Soil Protistology, 5th Russian conference on the ecology of free-living protists in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The forum will take place at Moscow State University during 6 -10 June, 2016. The Forum aims to gather leading researchers in all protistological fields, from molecular biology to ecology, to stimulate cross-disciplinary interactions, and to establish long-term international collaborations. Renowned scientists will present plenary lectures on hot topics. Participants are invited to present the results of their work in 15-minute talks, and poster sessions.
