... [Information des Anbieters]
Applications of conservation genetics, both in science and practice, are ever increasing. The ongoing revolution in molecular methodology opens up new possibilities for conservation genetic research. At the same time, conservation management is increasingly using genetic approaches for various practical applications, such as diagnosis, population size estimation, mating patterns and inbreeding, gene flow, fragmentation, connectivity, hybridization, adaptation and genetic monitoring. While in English-speaking countries several recurrent meetings exist that allow researchers and managers to exchange results and discuss new ideas on conservation genetics, no such platform exists in Central Europe. The aim of the Annual Meetings in Conservation Genetics is thus to bring together scientists and managers from Central Europe (mainly Germany, Austria and Switzerland) working on conservation genetics. We invite all scientists, postdocs, PhD students, Master students and, especially, conservation practitioners interested in conservation genetics to attend and contribute to the 1st Annual Meeting in Conservation Genetics taking place in Birmensdorf / Zürich, Switzerland. In the following years, the annual meeting will be hosted by different institutions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Conference objectives: (1) Inform researchers and managers on exciting conservation genetic research and emerging new developments, with a focus on Central Europe, (2) Provide a platform for personal exchange for scientists, students and managers interested in conservation genetics (including an extended poster session), (3) Establish a network for researchers in conservation genetics in Central Europe, (4) Present keynotes given by prominent scientists from within the European conservation genetic community. ... This conference provides a forum for curators and developers of biological databases to discuss their work, promote collaboration and foster a sense of community in this very active and growing area of research. In 2016 it is hosted by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. The conference will include four plenary talks featuring established scientists who have influenced the field of biocuration. The plenary speakers are Theodora Bloom, Donna Maglott, Melissa Haendel and Edward Marcotte. ... [Information of the supplier]
The PASC16 Conference, co-sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), will be held from June 8 to 10, 2016 at the SwissTech Convention Center, located on the campus of EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. The PASC Conference is a platform for interdisciplinary research across the areas of computational science, high-performance computing, and various domain sciences. PASC16 builds on a successful history with 350 international attendees in 2015. This year PASC continues to expand its program and welcomes your participation in a substantially larger event. The PASC16 Conference seeks to engage participants from academia, research labs and industry to address important issues in HPC and computational science. The PASC16 Conference is inviting researchers from diverse scientific backgrounds to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange of expertise. The conference is an opportunity for researchers in branches of science that require computer modeling and high-performance simulations to discuss computational techniques and technologies. The PASC16 Conference will offer five plenary sessions and one public lecture, as well as minisymposia, contributed talks and poster sessions in eight different scientific domains. It will also present for the first time a session dedicated to papers selected for publication in the ACM Digital Library. The program will provide time for discussions within PASC scientific disciplines (inter-PASC Networks discussions), and an exhibition space. Researchers from academia and industry are encouraged to participate and present their research in the form of paper, minisymposia, contributed talks and/or poster presentations. PASC16 welcomes submissions in the following scientific fields: Climate and Weather, Computer Science and Mathematics, Emerging Domains (Special Topic for minisymposia, contributed talks and poster: HPC and Big Data), Engineering, Life Sciences, Materials, Physics, Solid Earth. ...
