The botanical Society of Geneva was founded in 1875. The objectives of the Society converge to the study of various aspects of Botany : flora, taxonomy, physiology, ecology, etc. The botanical Society of Geneva is a non-profit organization and is recognized as being of public interest. The Society holds meetings monthly during which lecturers are invited to speak on a subject related to Botany. Every year, from spring to autumn, excursions are organized in the surroundings of Geneva and in other parts of Switzerland or Europe, with the purpose to learn more about the flora of these regions. In addition to these regular activities, the Society is involved in specific activities such as, for example, the project of cartography of flowering plants and ferns of Geneva, as well as visits to institutions or other botanic gardens. Die Zürcherische Botanische Gesellschaft (ZBG) wurde am 24. November 1890 als Sektion der Schweizerischen Botanischen Gesellschaft gegründet. Sie ist ein Verein, der seine Mitglieder zur Beschäftigung mit der Pflanzenwelt anregen und Erkenntnisse aus der Botanischen Forschung weiter vermitteln möchte. Zu diesem Zweck veranstaltet die ZBG während des Wintersemesters jeweils 6 - 8 Vorträge zu aktuellen Themen aus der Botanik. Im Sommersemester werden Exkursionen durchgeführt. Daten und Themen der Vorträge und Exkursionen finden Sie auf dieser Webseite; den Mitgliedern werden sie auch durch den Postversand des Programms bekannt gegeben. Die Generalversammlung findet einmal pro Jahr anschließend an den letzten Vortrag im Wintersemester statt. Sämtliche Mitglieder sind stimm- und wahlberechtigt. Die ZBG zählt rund 280 Mitglieder.
