Mathematical and computational tools and concepts form an essential basis for modern evolutionary studies. The rise of sound statistical and combinatorial approaches in evolutionary and genome biology has offered considerable improvements beyond the original ad hoc approaches, providing new methods and algorithms to handle ever-growing data sets. Such advances require an increasingly sophisticated mathematical treatment of the problems at hand and the reliance on faster algorithms and computers in order to answer important biological questions. The theme of this year’s edition will be "New Data, New Questions, New Methods". New generation sequencing techniques have multiplied not just the amount, but also the types of genetic data produced (e.g. RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing, ChIP-seq, Hi-C, ancient DNA, RAD-seq…), giving rise to new questions, and new methodologies to answer them. These methodologies are often cross-disciplinary, with applications to diverse research topics such as gene expression, cancer, development, genome evolution, epigenetics. General concepts, models, methods and algorithms will be presented and discussed, just as during the previous conference editions. To present the recent advances in the field and discuss open questions and problems, the meeting will bring together researchers originating from various disciplines: mathematics, computer science, phylogenetics and population genetics. Keynote speakers will introduce a field of research and discuss their own work in this field (see below). Afternoon will be for short presentations and posters, with plenty of time for discussions. We will stop early every day, thus leaving time for other activities, such as hiking, snorkeling or simply lying on the beach. The number of attendees will be limited, so as to favor small group interaction. ... [Information of the supplier]
The Evolutionary Biology Meeting at Marseilles is an annual congress which has gathered high level experts in evolutionary biology since its creation in 1997. If the congress was initially a local meeting, it quickly gained an important weight in the scientific life. Indeed, whereas the number of participants has been increasing, the geographical origin of the researchers has been diversifying and widening year by year. Today, the Evolutionary Biology Meeting at Marseilles has reached a worldwide dimension and plays a paramount role in the international scientific life: allowing the gathering of high level specialists, it encourages the exchange of ideas and stimulates the works of the researchers all through the world. ... ESEB is delighted to welcome you to the Second Joint Congress on Evolutionary Biology. Joint Congresses take place every six years and bring together four of the world's largest academic societies in the field of evolutionary biology: the European Society for Evolutionary Biology, the American Society of Naturalists, the Society for the Study of Evolution and the Society of Systematic Biologists. The first joint congress was in Ottawa, Canada in 2012. The current (i.e. second) will be held in Montpellier, France, on August 19-22 2018. ... [Information of the supplier]
We are delighted to invite you to Sfécologie 2018, the French Ecological and Evolution Society's International Conference that will take place in October 2018 (22nd - 25th). The 2018 conference will be hosted in Rennes, at the historic Couvent des Jacobins, in the old part of the city of Rennes, ensuring convenient public transportation for the attendees. This conference usually hosts 900-1000 participants, and covers all aspects of ecology and evolution. In addition to an excellent scientific line-up, we are also planning an evening excursion to the beautiful Unesco heritage site in nearby Mont-Saint Michel. So, we hope you can join us for a wonderful week in France! ... [Information of the supplier]

The date of the next meeting is September 20-23, 2022. If the travel conditions are the same as this year then we will organize a virtual meeting. We are working on this possibility to be sure that the EBM will continue. [Information of the supplier]
