Auf unserer Verbandstagung, die vom 18.-19. Oktober 2014 in Freiburg stattfindet, werden wir den Verband mit seinen Aktivitäten vorstellen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt wird die Standortsituation des Burgundertrüffels in Deutschland sein. Immer drängender wird die Frage der Nutzung der Wildvorkommen. Deshalb wird nach kurzen Statements zu einzelnen Aspekten wie Rechtssituation, Naturschutz, nachhaltiger Nutzung und Beispielen aus anderen Ländern mit dem Publikum diskutiert. Fungi display dynamics in all aspects of their biology, ranging from the control of intracellular motility to their migration across ecosystems. This meeting aims to celebrate the dynamic nature of fungi and provide an overview of some of the most cutting-edge current research in fungal biology. Initially the meeting will focus on the dynamic processes involved in the cell biology of fungi, and during the development and control of their cellular differentiation. The meeting will then concentrate on the dynamic nature of fungal pathogenicity, at both the level of host invasion and global movement of pathogens, before focusing on the dynamic nature of fungal genomes and their evolution and adaption. Die Internationale Tagung der DGfM 2018 wird vom 6.10.2018 bis zum 11.10.2018 im Heinrich-Lübke-Haus in Möhnesee am Nordrand des Sauerlandes (NRW) stattfinden. Fußläufig von der Tagungsstätte schließt sich südlich der Arnsberger Wald an - ein riesiges zusammenhängendes Waldgebiet. Die Fichten- und Buchenforste sind von Bächen und Erlenbrüchen durchzogen. Bei Neuhaus gibt es eine Naturwaldzelle mit sehr alten Buchen. Nördlich, Richtung Soest, liegen auf einem ehemaligen Truppenübungsplatz große Magerwiesen und Gehölzparzellen auf Kalkmergel. Kalkböden ziehen sich auch am Nordrand des Arnsberger Waldes und weiter nordöstlich entlang. In den dortigen Buchen- und Eichenwäldern, z.B. bei Warstein und Eringerfeld, sind zahlreiche Raritäten zu Hause, wie der Jungfernschirmling (Leucoagaricus nympharum) oder der Weinrötliche Schleimschirmling (Limacella vinosorubescens), und auch viele Täublinge (Russula spp.). Auf dem Höhenrücken im Süden des Arnsberger Waldes finden sich auf über 500 Höhenmetern mehrere Quellmoore, teilweise mit Moorbirken, und weitere totholzreiche Buchen- und Fichtenwälder. Die Mitglieder in der Region, unter Leitung von Gerhard Wölfel und Dietrich Smolinski, haben bereits mit der Planung der Exkursionsgebiete begonnen. Vielen Dank für die Unterstützung! The study of regulatory RNAs in the control of prokaryotic genomes has become a very active and rapidly growing field. New small and large noncoding RNA molecules continue to be discovered at a staggering rate in bacterial model organisms as well as in the transcriptomes of bacterial communities. Newly discovered structural and functional aspects of such RNAs have reached a degree of breadth that requires a meeting with a strong focus on bacterial RNA research to fully address the diversity of these new regulators of gene expression and bring together the scientists involved in these studies. Regulating with RNA in Bacteria was the first conference dedicated to this topic and premiered a forum for the presentation of cutting-edge advances and the latest perspectives in the areas of discovery, mechanisms and structure of bacterial riboregulators. This conference is the successor of two well-received previous meetings that were held in Berlin (2009) and San Juan (2011), and will be co-sponsored by DFG Program SPP1258 on Sensory and regulatory RNA in prokaryotes. We believe that the topic will attract many researchers from abroad and expect up to 250 participants. Aside from lectures by a number of international experts there will be additional oral presentations selected from submitted abstracts. The Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS), the European Molecular Biology Organization ( EMBO), and the French Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SFBBM) will hold a joint conference for the life sciences in 2014. The FEBS–EMBO 2014 Conference will take place from Saturday 30 August to Thursday 4 September 2014 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France. The year 2014 will be the 50th anniversary of FEBS and EMBO, and the centennial of the SFBBM. The meeting next year replaces the normally separate annual conferences of FEBS and EMBO, and combining our communities, we expect to bring together a wide range of researchers. Angela Nieto, Susan Gasser, Eric Westhof and Michael Reth have agreed to act as the programme committee. They have put together a scientific programme covering the breadth of the life sciences.
