Since 2001 the German Working Group on Vegetation Databases is dedicated to the development of phytosociological databases. In the face of rampant biodiversity loss, the care for native species and the restoration of communities and ecosystem functions has become an important tool for nature conservation. Interfering with ecological complexity, restoration has to be informed by profound knowledge of species and their interactions in communities. To anticipate actionism, its success has to be carefully measured. Vegetation databases must play a crucial role in the planning, monitoring and readjustment of restoration measures. As comprehensive archives of species co-occurrence vegetation databases allow to define target species and forecast interactions with their competitors and facilitators. For given target species, they allow to identify habitats and communities most suited for re-establishment. Monitoring data stored in databases are readily accessible to statistical analysis of effects and trajectories. The German working group on vegetation databases has therefore chosen ecological restoration as the focal topic of its 13th workshop to be held at the Federal Institute of Hydrology (BFG) in Koblenz from 24 - 26 February 2014. ... On behalf of the Organizing Committee it is a great pleasure to invite you to the 2nd INPPO World Congress 2016 (INPPO2016 Bratislava) jointly organized by the International Plant Proteomics Organization (INPPO) and ‘Phenomen-all’ COST Action FA1306. INPPO was established in 2011 to advance the utilization of proteomics technology in plants as well as to create a way for plant proteomics researchers to interact, collaborate and exchange ideas. The aim of the EU Food and Agriculture COST Action FA1306 is to create a network of European scientists with expertise on phenotyping, various -omics areas and/or physiology to (re)discover tolerant varieties and to understand tolerance. The Congress will take place in Bratislava (Slovakia), a cosmopolitan city located 80 km from Vienna (Austria). The congress will be hosted by the Institute of Plant Genetics and Biotechnology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. All areas of plant proteomics will be covered keeping in mind the diversity of proteomics research in plant sciences. INPPO2016 Bratislava will bring together leading experts in plant proteomics from all over the world and provide a critical mass in proteomics technologies and applications on all aspects of plant proteomics and cellular phenotyping. The Congress will start on Sunday (September 4, 2016) with registration, poster mounting, evening lecture and welcome reception. Keynote lectures and round table discussions will help to discuss individual open questions with experts in the field including breeders. Scientific sessions with invited speakers and presentations selected from submitted abstracts will cover specific thematic areas in plant proteomics, cellular phenotyping, and systems biology related to physiological aspects (e.g. plant development and nutrition, interaction with environmental factors). Poster sessions will play a central role and provide the opportunity to discuss your results in more detail. Member gathering and committee meetings will be arranged. INPPO2016 Bratislava is a continuation of bi-annual meetings initiated in 2014 (INPPO2014 Hamburg), and that provides insight into the most recent advances in proteomics technologies and applications, such as gel-based and gel-free proteomics, mass spectrometry, including quantitative approaches and bioinformatics, post-translational modifications, protein-protein interactions and signaling, sub-proteomics (organelles, membranes, cell wall, etc.), functional proteomics and translational proteomics. An industry exhibition will present the latest products in proteomics technologies. Scientific journals publishing in the field of Plant Proteomics, such as Proteomics or Frontiers in Plant Sciences, will present latest publication strategies and standards in Plant Proteomics. ... European Dry Grassland Meetings (EDGM) constitute the cycle of the European Dry Grassland Group conferences devoted to dry grassland of Europe. They have been organized since 2004. The 10th EDGM in 2013 will be held in Poland – the country laying in the area where two different types of climate meet – the mild oceanic with the severe continental one. This has substantial influence on the grasslands in Poland, and shapes their vegetation, flora and fauna. That is why the grasslands in the region have the unique character. Unfortunately, they all share the same problems. Both in Poland as well as in the rest of Europe, have come in the past few decades under threat from intensified agriculture and the consequent changes in land usage, the loss of extensive grazing, which brought about natural succession, afforestation, ploughing and turning into arable land. Other detrimental processes include the eutrophization of the grasslands and interference from alien species linked to negative changes in abiotic conditions. In the light of the serious threats several important question arise: How to protect them? What we need to secure for a long lasting persistence of the habitat? How should we cooperate? These are the questions which we want to ask in Zamość in May 2013. If you want to participate at the meeting please register via the online form. ... [Information of the supplier]

It is a great pleasure to invite you to Bogor, Indonesia to participate to the 9th International Flora Malesiana Symposium. This year’s symposium will be an important and comprehensive forum in which botanists will gain invaluable experience from the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and opinions on plant systematics (including fungi, mosses, ferns, and lichens). We will discuss finding new species, the distribution of the important plant species for health, foods, clothing, etc., anatomy and morphology of plants of the regions for the purpose of proper identification, understanding habitats of the floras, and how to protect those plants from over-exploitation and manage them sustainable for the future generations. We cordially invite you to attend and participate in this significant event. ... [Information of the supplier]
After a long and successful career as Europe’s first truly operational system for global monitoring of vegetation, the mission is now nearing the end of its life cycle. But the story continues! The role of SPOT-VEGETATION will be taken over by ESA’s technologically advanced PROBA-V mission from the summer of 2013 onwards. To celebrate with us the operational and scientific achievements of SPOT-VEGETATION and to look forward to the intriguing perspectives that will offered to the user’s community by PROBA-V, BELSPO and VITO are delighted to invite you to the conference “PROBING VEGETATION”. ...
