Aspergillus flavus is a plant, animal, and human pathogen that produces the carcinogen, aflatoxin. An organized multidisciplinary team is coordinating research efforts to control this fungus and to prevent the formation of its toxin in food and feeds. [Information of the supplier]
This resource gives an overview of the known chromosome numbers, up to now, within the Asteraceae. Through a detailed search mask the chromosome numbers, the taxa investigated, and bibliographic references are accessible. Publications up to and including 2005 are recorded in the resource. In the 21st century, it is becoming increasingly important for students to be aware of and understand basic biotechnological and microbiological concepts. As always, these scientific concepts are most effectively conveyed through hands-on laboratory experiences. However, laboratory exercises are challenging because of the potential risk of student exposure to harmful microbes and chemicals, challenges in maintaining sterility of cultures, cost of scientific materials, and length of time required for preparation and laboratory experiments. Because of the urgent need to improve and expand the biotechnology and microbiology component of curricula using novel, safe, and effective approaches, we have developed this web site. As the centerpiece of this project, we have utilized the halophilic microbe, Halobacterium species NRC-1, which has been extensively studied in our laboratory for the last 20 years, as an ideal teaching vehicle. ... ... [Information des Anbieters]
MeRy-B is a plant metabolomics platform allowing the storage and visualisation of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) metabolic profiles from plants. For data uploading contact the administrator. MeRy-B is a web-based application with either public or private access. It is designed to fill a knowledgebase of curated plant profiles and metabolites obtained by NMR, to query and visualize the data, to detect biomarkers with spectra visualization and statistical tools, and to assist in biomarker identification. It contains plant metabolites and unknown compounds lists with information about experimental conditions and metabolite concentrations from several plant species compiled from a thousand of curated annotated NMR profiles on various organs or tissues. ... Panzea is the bioinformatics arm of a project investigating the Genetic Architecture of Maize and Teosinte (NSF 0820619). The project is funded by the National Science Foundation. The project is describing the genetic architecture of complex traits in maize and teosinte. We will identify genes that control domestication traits and three key agronomic traits: flowering time, plant height, and kernel quality. We will characterize allelic series at these genes, examine their epistatic and environmental interactions, and take a step toward the ultimate goal of predicting phenotype from genotype. The genetic, germplasm, and bioinformatic resources created by this project will help maize researchers worldwide to discover the genetic basis of any trait of interest. The Panzea website provides access to the project database and bioinformatics module. The Panzea Database contains the genotypic and phenotypic data and genetic marker information produced by the project. The Panzea Database design is based on the Genomic Diversity and Phenotype Data Model (GDPDM). The database schema and an Excel file with table and field descriptions are available below. ... Saccharomyces Genome Database is a scientific database of the molecular biology and genetics of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which is commonly known as baker's or budding yeast. (...) SGD contains the sequences of yeast genes and proteins; descriptions and classifications of their biological roles, molecular functions, and subcellular localizations; links to literature information; links to functional genomics datasets; and tools for analysis and comparison of sequences. The SGD Home page is the main entry point for the database. SGD is aimed at scientists; collected information about yeast for the non-scientist can be found at the Yeast Virtual Library. SGD does not collect medical information, and SGD curators cannot answer health-related questions. ... [Information of the supplier]
The German Mycological Society (DGfM) is a representation of interests of German professional and amateur mycologists, mushroom pickers and nature conservationists. DGfM supports the investigation of fungal relationships and ecology, the conservation of nature and of biotopes, promotes national and international exchange of knowledge and scientific discussion by the publication of the German-language journal Zeitschrift für Mykologie and the English-language journal Mycological Progress. The German Mycological Society trains Pilzsachverständige-DGfM ('Specialists in Fungi') and is responsible for the education of Fachberater für Mykologie ('Consultants for Mycology'). ... Here you will find information on members of the orders Chytridiales (sensu Barr) and Spizellomycetales in the class Chytridiomycetes (Kingdom Fungi), including a description of genera, tips and techniques on how to isolate chytrids, current hypotheses of chytrid systematics (includes both taxonomy and phylogeny), links to other relevant websites, and a searchable reference database. The goal of this site is to provide an online resource for students, teachers, and researchers wanting to learn more about chytrids as well as an easily accessed interface for taxonomic information. Since the work on chytrid taxonomy and phylogeny is an on-going process, this site will be continually updated to reflect the changes brought about by new research. ... [Information of the supplier]
