Aquatische Neophyten waren bislang in Deutschland ein kaum beachtetes Phänomen. In der letzten Zeit wurde jedoch durch eine Reihe verschiedener Projekte zum Thema "Aquatic Aliens" das Interesse an den pflanzlichen Neubewohnern unserer Gewässer mehr und mehr geweckt. Diese Seite soll interessierten Besuchern (sowohl Wissenschaftlern als auch Laien) Informationen zu den aquatischen Neophyten bieten, die bislang aus Nordrhein-Westfalen bekannt sind. Ich beschäftige mich im Rahmen meiner Dissertation mit der Ausbreitung und der Ökologie bzw. Ökophysiologie aquatischer Neophyten in NRW und versuche meine, sowie in der Literatur beschriebene Kenntnisse über die Arten hier darzustellen. Der Stand der Forschung ist bei den verschiedenen aquatischen Neophyten sehr unterschiedlich. Während sich einige Arten, wie z.B. Elodea nuttallii und Elodea canadensis, bereits seit langer Zeit im Focus der wissenschaftlichen Forschung befinden, blieben andere Arten bislang weitgehend unbeachtet.
