Die Global Invasive Species Database wurde von der Invasive Species Specialist Group (ISSG) der IUCN/SSC als Teil der weltweiten Initiative zu invasiven Arten entwickelt. Im Rahmen der Aktivitäten Portugals zur Errichtung eines europäischen Schutzgebietssystems "Natura 2000" wurden die in Portugal vorkommenden natürlichen Lebensräume durch die Associação Lusitana de Fitossociologia (ALFA) erfasst; entsprechend den Vorgaben des Instituto de Conservação da Natureza (ICN) wurden Beschreibungen erstellt, die im Format PDF heruntergeladen werden können. The first annual International Environmental ‘Omics Synthesis conference will be held in Cardiff, UK, on September 9-11th, 2013.
