The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is proud to team up for the first time with Agropolis international and the French Foundation for Research on Biodiversity (FRB) to host the 27th International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB) and the 4th European Congress for Conservation Biology (ECCB) to be held on August 2-6, 2015 in Montpellier, France. SCB’s International and European Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB & ECCB) are the most important international meeting for conservation professionals and students. They are a forum for addressing conservation challenges and for presenting new research and developments in conservation science and practice. Most importantly, ICCBs and ECCBs connect our global community of conservation professionals and are the major networking outlet for anyone interested in conservation. The meeting theme is 'Mission biodiversity: choosing new paths for conservation', and as such we intend that ICCB-ECCB 2015 is a transdisciplinary meeting and delegates attend from a range of professions and sectors. Conservation biology has always had socioeconomic relevance but it is clear that biologists need to undertake interdisciplinary collaborations from the first inception of projects, through to implementation and dissemination of outputs. The programme will emphasise science-policy and science-society dialogues using interactive sessions and symposia. ... [Information of the supplier]
The 5th International EcoSummit Congress, EcoSummit 2016 - Ecological Sustainability: Engineering Change, will take place at The Corum Convention Centre, Montpellier from 29 August – 1 September 2016. This conference series was founded in 1996 in Copenhagen, as a forum to meet the demands of scientists working in several new ecological disciplines, and who required a better understanding of the concepts and methods for a holistic use of ecology in environmental management. Since 1996, EcoSummit has been taken around the world (Canada and China), with EcoSummit 2012 hosting 1600 participants from 75 countries in Columbus, Ohio, USA. EcoSummit 2016 will centre on the ecology of terrestrial ecosystems and all habitats that are integrated within those ecosystems, including river networks, wetlands and coastlines. Focus will be placed on fragile ecosystems that are more likely to suffer the consequences of climate change and anthropogenic pressure. However, in the current context of an increasing world population, changes in social habit (increasing world consumerism) and climate change, it is evident that agriculture is being intensified but with a growing awareness of the need to preserve and use sustainably world resources. Therefore, we will also address how terrestrial restoration can be carried out when the massive demand for food results in fragile ecosystems, forests and marginal lands being turned over to agriculture. ... We are delighted to invite you to Sfécologie 2018, the French Ecological and Evolution Society's International Conference that will take place in October 2018 (22nd - 25th). The 2018 conference will be hosted in Rennes, at the historic Couvent des Jacobins, in the old part of the city of Rennes, ensuring convenient public transportation for the attendees. This conference usually hosts 900-1000 participants, and covers all aspects of ecology and evolution. In addition to an excellent scientific line-up, we are also planning an evening excursion to the beautiful Unesco heritage site in nearby Mont-Saint Michel. So, we hope you can join us for a wonderful week in France! ... [Information of the supplier]
We are pleased to announce that the “European Conference of Tropical Ecology” and the Annual Conference of the Society for Tropical Ecology (Gesellschaft für Tropenökologie, gtö) in 2018 will be hosted by the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle/UPMC/Académie des Sciences-COPED, Sorbonne Universités, Paris. The overarching topic will be "Challenges in tropical ecology and conservation - global perspectives". The conference will take place from Monday 26 to Thursday 29 March 2018 at the Centre International de Conférences Sorbonne Universités (CICSU) of the University Pierre-Marie Curie and at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris historic center. The annual conference of the Society for Tropical Ecology (gtö) will provide an interdisciplinary platform for discussing these major challenges and future opportunities in tropical Ecology including: Understanding tropical biodiversity at all spatial and taxonomical scales; Defining resilient tropical ecosystems; Novel approaches to understand and manage tropical ecosystems; Conservation and restoration of tropical ecosystems. ... We propose to gather with you, the acting scientists in the field of ecology and evolution, at the SFE2-GfÖ-EEF joint meeting "Ecology and Evolution: New perspectives and societal challenges," in Metz, France, 21-25 November 2022. It is being organized by the LIEC (University of Lorraine, CNRS) and other labs in northeastern France working in the fields of ecology and evolution. ... [Information of the supplier]
Mathematical and computational tools and concepts form an essential basis for modern evolutionary studies. The rise of sound statistical and combinatorial approaches in evolutionary and genome biology has offered considerable improvements beyond the original ad hoc approaches, providing new methods and algorithms to handle ever-growing data sets. Such advances require an increasingly sophisticated mathematical treatment of the problems at hand and the reliance on faster algorithms and computers in order to answer important biological questions. The theme of this year’s edition will be "New Data, New Questions, New Methods". New generation sequencing techniques have multiplied not just the amount, but also the types of genetic data produced (e.g. RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing, ChIP-seq, Hi-C, ancient DNA, RAD-seq…), giving rise to new questions, and new methodologies to answer them. These methodologies are often cross-disciplinary, with applications to diverse research topics such as gene expression, cancer, development, genome evolution, epigenetics. General concepts, models, methods and algorithms will be presented and discussed, just as during the previous conference editions. To present the recent advances in the field and discuss open questions and problems, the meeting will bring together researchers originating from various disciplines: mathematics, computer science, phylogenetics and population genetics. Keynote speakers will introduce a field of research and discuss their own work in this field (see below). Afternoon will be for short presentations and posters, with plenty of time for discussions. We will stop early every day, thus leaving time for other activities, such as hiking, snorkeling or simply lying on the beach. The number of attendees will be limited, so as to favor small group interaction. ... [Information of the supplier]
