A considerable number of interdisciplinary researches have been developed at the interface between hydrology and ecology during the last decade. The increasing number of peer-reviewed papers on the topic demonstrates the vitality of this theme. This interest in coupling hydrological and ecological studies has been triggered by purely scientific questions related to the quantification of the role of interactions between hydrological and biological processes on surface and groundwater resources and quality, but also by the importance of these physical and biological interactions at small, local and regional scales. These scales are of paramount importance for applied environmental issues related to air and water quality or biodiversity dynamics for instance. The aim of this fourth conference after the three last ones in Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad), Czech Republic in 2006, and in Vienna in Austria in 2009 and 2011, is fourfold: i) to present new findings and approaches on interactions between hydrology and ecology, ii) to promote interdisciplinary interactions on water related issues between hydrology, hydrogeology, biogeochemistry, microbial ecology and ecology, iii) to explore emerging patterns, breakthroughs and Challenges, and iv) to provide management applications and guidelines to tackle environmental issues. To address the relevant issues, the conference aims to bring together experts from different disciplines such as hydrologists (groundwater, surface water), ecologists, biologists, subsurface microbiologists, environmental biogeochemists, eco-technologists, geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers, forest managers, nature reserve managers, regional and landscape planners, as well as experts from governmental institutions. ... The deep-sea is the largest ecosystem on Earth, it harbours high biodiversity and provides a wealth of resources yet, it is also the least explored and understood. Since their first edition in 1977, the international deep-sea symposia have been invaluable forums for exchange of information on the most recent deep-sea explorations and scientific advances. Moreover, the symposia have also been wellsprings of cooperation and formation of new research groups and projects. In 2015 it is the turn of Aveiro, Portugal to host the International Deep-Sea Biology Symposium. ... [Information des Anbieters]
The 4th international conference on “Progress in Marine Conservation in Europe 2015” offers a regular international forum for discussions on currently important marine conservation issues in Europe with occasional examples from beyond. The upcoming conference will be a continuation of the three international conferences which proved to be encouraging events with attendance of more than 200 experts from 20 countries. The conference invites a wide range of participants and organizations such as international conventions and agreements, policy makers, conservation managers, scientists and inter- and non-governmental organizations. Attendance is limited to 250 participants. ... [Information of the supplier]
The 50th Marine Biology Symposium is taking place on Helgoland, a site with important phyto-, zooplankton and other time series. The overarching theme of this EMBS will therefore revolve around long-term changes in the coastal and marine environment. However the programme will take a holistic approach and deal with different aspects of time series research from the primary science (long-term changes, foodweb interactions etc) via data management and emerging technologies (e.g. autonomous sensors) to investigating/communicating the societal relevance of results emanating from time series data. ... The MARES Consortium and EuroMarine Network are pleased to invite you to participate in the Second Mares Conference on Marine Ecosystems Health and Conservation. This international conference is expected to attract around 200 attendees from across the world, with strong representation from the European region. It presents a unique opportunity to bring together marine researchers, scientists, educators, and policymakers to address the main issues regarding the impact of human activities on the natural marine environment. The conference aims to be dynamic and innovative, by providing a mixture of oral presentations, scientific exhibitions and training workshops. ... [Information of the supplier]

Welcome to the website of the North Sea Open Science Conference 2016. This conference will highlight state-of-the-art knowledge, solutions and prospects to enlarge the scientific basis for an ecosystem-based management of the North Sea. Two main pillars with associated themes will structure the content of the conference: (a) Scientific fundament, comprising spatio-temporal patterns and marine ecosystem processes; (b) Science for management and policy, comprising ecosystem assessment, assessment tools, and socio-economic relevance. The conference is open to fundamental and applied research, lessons-learnt from both successes and failures in marine management, and innovative measurement and data handling concepts from within and beyond the North Sea.The conference will equally cover biodiversity and physico-chemical environmental aspects of the North Sea. The conference will make use of very innovative formats moving away from frustrating parallel sessions, encouraging other types of presentations than traditional powerpoints and promoting participatory methodologies (i.e. Fish bowls) to stimulate real dialogue among participants. Come join us for a unique science- policy- society trialogue on the North Sea! ... [Information of the supplier]
