Welcome to Behaviour2015, a joint meeting of the International Ethological Conference (IEC), Australasian Society for the Study of Animal Behaviour (ASSAB), Australasian Evolution Society (AES), and Australasia, New Zealand and Africa Region of Applied Ethology that will be held from 9 to 14 August, 2015, in Cairns, Australia. We are very excited to host Behaviour2015 in our ‘backyard’ - between lush tropical rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef. Australia and the Asia/Pacific region have played a significant role for behavioural research, through the contributions of individual investigators as well as through the intriguing fauna that inhabits our region. We are delighted to invite you to Australia to share recent developments in all disciplines of behaviour research. Behaviour2015 will feature a diverse selection of plenaries, symposia and conference sessions that span the entire range of behaviour research: communication, cognition, sexual selection, predator-prey, foraging, social and sensory behaviour, parental care, personality, parasitism, human behaviour, cooperation, applied ethology, conservation ethology, and many more. We encourage participation of delegates from all geographic regions working on all behaviour disciplines and taxa. We promise an inclusive and vibrant academic and social environment during the conference to allow for those important chats between delegates. After all, Australians are welcoming, friendly and easy-going … and we sure know how to throw a party! Come and join us at Behaviour2015. ... [Information of the supplier]

Society is being transformed through the connection of data - from databases, archives, sensors and models - to analytics and other services. Working at the boundaries of computational and environmental sciences, breakthroughs in enviro-informatics multiply the convergence already underway in natural sciences. The web paradigm of Linked Data promises a breakthrough in linked, science-ready information from persistent sources. However, environmental data is scattered across many organizations in formal and informal ways, expressed using many standards, and also frequently depending on physical samples taken from the real world. Challenges are technical, social, and institutional. A growing community of earth and environmental scientists, working on the interface with computational science, are developing detailed practices and standards around identifiers, vocabularies, and software interfaces, which are necessary for wider community application. Currently, these efforts are fragmented, as is the communication of technical solutions and organisational best practices. Linking Environmental Data and Samples will bring together thought-leaders in the computational-environmental sciences convergence space, with the goal of triggering the adoption of uniform practices across Australia and internationally. ... The Ecological Society of Australia and the New Zealand Ecological Society are delighted to announce EcoTAS 2017, the sixth joint meeting organised by the two societies. Bridging the Tasman every four years, this combined annual meeting always delivers top-quality ecological science drawn from all ecological subdisciplines from throughout Australasia and beyond. EcoTAS 2017 promises an exciting programme of plenary speakers, symposia, workshops and social events, all held in the beautiful Hunter Valley. The theme of EcoTAS 2017, ‘Putting ecology to work’, is a call to focus on how ecological science can contribute to the economy, society, culture and public policy, as well as to the health of the environment and quality of life. As ecologists, we should identify and communicate the impact of our work and the tangible benefits it can deliver. By making this the theme for EcoTAS 2017, we aim to highlight the significant impact that ecology has in the wider world and how we can best harness the diverse nature of ecological research. ... This will enable the conference to be accessible to as many people as possible and best reflect the breadth and depth of work being conducted on Australian ecology. In 2021 the Conference theme is 'Renewal'. In a post-covid, post-black summer world, at ESA2021 we will explore a renewal in our relationships with each other and with nature, as our land recovers from fire, drought and flood. ...
