On behalf of the organizing committee and the Zoological Society of Japan (ZSJ),we welcome all of you to the Joint meeting of the 22nd International Congress of Zoology (ICZ) & the 87th meeting of the ZSJ, which will be held 15 - 19 November, 2016 in Okinawa, a paradise island in the most southwest area of Japan. ICZ has a long history that dates back to 1889 (Paris) and is now being organized by the International Society of Zoological Sciences (ISZS). ZSJ, which was founded in 1878 and has an even longer history, is one of the largest communities of zoological sciences in the world (2,700 academic members). ZSJ recently decided to host ICZ in Okinawa and the meeting will be held jointly with our regular annual meeting of ZSJ. 2014 ICN / JSCPB is a joint meeting of the 11th International Congress of Neuroethology (ICN) and the 36th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry (JSCPB). The conference will be held at the Sapporo Convention Center, Sapporo, Japan, July 28th through August 1st, and is co-organized by the International Society for Neuroethology (ISN), the Japanese Association of Neuroethologists (JAN) and the Science Council of Japan (SCJ). The conference attracts scientists and students engaging in neuroethology – the study of neural mechanisms of animal behavior – working in a broad range of disciplines, including neurophysiology/neuroanatomy, molecular biology/genetics, cognitive psychology, computational neuroscience, and robotics.
