The topic of the symposium is "Coleoptera as tool for monitoring of the environment". Nowadays, also due to human activity, we are confronted with rapidly changing environments. In many cases these changes constitute challenging task, which require counteracting management measures. To identify the threads and dangers in time, early-warning systems are necessary. When having implemented the respective management measure, success control is required. For both early warning and success control we need reliable tools for monitoring of the environment. Beetles contribute to our fauna as the largest group of animals, which – except for the salt waters – settled on almost every type of ecosystem. Beetles react sensitive on changes in the environment, for many species the ecological needs are well known and understood. Thus, they have been often included in monitoring programs. However, there are still open questions with respect to methodical aspects and indicatory power of implemented monitoring systems. The symposium aims to highlight the importance of beetles as elements of monitoring programs, to deepen our knowledge, and to pinpoint future challenges and possibilities. ... Durch seine kultivierende Tätigkeit hat der Mensch ein hohes Maß an Abwechslung und eine Vielfalt unterschiedlicher Lebensräume geschaffen. Bedingt durch intensive Besiedelung und den Strukturwandel in der Land- und Forstwirtschaft hat die biologische Vielfalt rapide und in teilweise dramatischem Ausmaß abgenommen. Die Erhaltung von seltenen Tier- und Pflanzenarten, sowie die generelle Bewahrung der biologischen Vielfalt, sind inzwischen zu einem besonderen Anliegen in der Agrar- und Umweltpolitik geworden. Das Projekt SALVERE soll dazu beitragen, ökologisch hochwertige landwirtschaftliche Flächen ("high nature value farmland - HNVF") als eine wertvolle Ressource zu sehen und damit zu einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung des ländlichen Raumes und benachteiligter Gebiete beitragen. Es wird im Rahmen des CENTRAL EUROPE Programms durchgeführt und durch den Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE - Europäische territoriale Zusammenarbeit) cofinanziert. Durch die Anwendung heimischer Samen, die im Projekt untersucht und verwendet werden, wird eine genetische Vermischung lokaler Populationen, durch die Verwendung konventioneller Saatgutmischungen mit nicht standortgerechten Arten und Sorten vermieden. Es ist wichtig, in intensiv genutzten landwirtschaftlichen oder urbanen Regionen die technischen Voraussetzungen für eine Zunahme artenreicher Flächen zu schaffen. ... [Information des Anbieters]
