This years meeting is being held in partnership with a SETAC special topic meeting entitled "Environmental and (eco)toxicological Omics and Epigenetics". As with previous years the aim of the conference is to bring together researchers and organisations from a range of disciplines with shared interests in the development of new approaches for data handling, generation and analysis in environmental omics. The meeting will include diverse sessions on science areas spanning; Archeogenomics (aDNA and ancient eDNA), Evolutionary Genomics, Metagenomics, Systems Ecotoxicology and Environmental Epigenetics. This latter topic will be expanded to consdier the Science, Technology and Regulatory Applications. It is our hope is that the resulting interaction and exchange of ideas will lead to novel approaches, new collaborations and the establishment of a wider integrated ‘Omic community. ... On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the VIII. International Symposium on Ecology and Environmental Problems (ISEEP), organized by the Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Department of Biology. The conference will be held in Canakkale, Turkey, on 4 – 7 October 2017. It is expected that the Symposium will create an exceptional scientific platform where various ecological problems will be discussed, and possible solutions will be proposed. By this occasion, scientists both from Turkey and abroad are planning to share the results and opinions derived from their studies on various aspects of environmental problems. ... ... Working basis of the three-day international workshop at the International Academy for Nature Conservation Isle of Vilm is an in advance accomplished study, analysing the flood risks and the implementation status of nature-based solutions in South Eastern Europe. The focus is put on flood-prevention in the countries Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia, Croatia and Montenegro. Analysed were among others relevant stakeholders, barriers and priority sites regarding nature-based solutions to flood-prevention. The completed study will be presented and discussed during the workshop. The workshop will serve among others to develope within working groups guidelines to overcome barriers to the implementation of nature-based solutions and to identify priority sites for future support. The workshop shall help to develop a work programme to foster nature-based flood-prevention in South Eastern Europe and to gain approval and support for pilot activities at priority sites. ... A major obstacle in linking evolution and ecology has been that for many of the preferred models for genetic and genomic research, ecological information has been lacking. Conversely, the preferred models for evolutionary ecology have generally not been amenable to genetic experiments and have had poorly developed genomic resources. The ongoing revolution in sequencing technologies is rapidly changing this. Large-scale sequencing-based studies have become affordable for individual labs and support population genomics, investigation of regulatory landscapes of the genomes as well as in situ genetics in a wide range of species. Importantly, such analyses can now be performed with hundreds or even thousands of individuals. This meeting will present the latest advances with satellite systems, that is, species that are closely related to conventional genetic model organisms, and with entirely new models for evolutionary and ecological genetics and genomics. Special emphasis will be placed on the interaction between organisms as a basis for understanding ecological adaptation. ... [Information of the supplier]
After a long and successful career as Europe’s first truly operational system for global monitoring of vegetation, the mission is now nearing the end of its life cycle. But the story continues! The role of SPOT-VEGETATION will be taken over by ESA’s technologically advanced PROBA-V mission from the summer of 2013 onwards. To celebrate with us the operational and scientific achievements of SPOT-VEGETATION and to look forward to the intriguing perspectives that will offered to the user’s community by PROBA-V, BELSPO and VITO are delighted to invite you to the conference “PROBING VEGETATION”. ... The focus of BIOGEOMON is on the biogeochemistry of forest and natural ecosystems as influenced by anthropogenic and environmental factors. We invite empirical and modeling studies on fluxes and processes related to the turnover of major and trace elements at the ecosystem, watershed, landscape, and global scale. The conference is hosted by the Bayreuth Center of Ecology and Environmental Research (BayCEER). ... [Information of the supplier]
The HABMON conference is open for scientists, representatives of administrations, foundations, consultancies, conservation agencies and for anybody interested in nature conservation. The major aim of the conference is to discuss habitat monitoring strategies (best practices, solutions for a successful monitoring and integration of new technologies), applications of habitat monitoring (ways of sharing practical experiences and data comparability in EU member countries - applications to preserve threatened species and areas) and future concepts (recommendations / guidelines for management of habitats and endangered species - bridge from scientific data to application). The conference is organized in frame of the EU funded project "ChangeHabitats2 - Network for Habitat Monitoring by airborne-supported field work - an innovative and effective process in implementation of the Habitat Directive" (Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways, FP7-MC-IAPP). The project aims to develop a cost- and time-efficient airborne-supported habitat assessment approach using innovative image and effective field work techniques for monitoring NATURA2000 habitats. The project involves eight partners (three universities and five small and medium enterprises) from four Central European Countries (Austria, Germany, Hungary and Poland). ... Biodiversity Science is facing enormous challenges as the pressures upon the earth’s biotic systems are rapidly intensifying and we are unlikely to reach the CBD 2020 Aichi Targets. But how far or close are we to reach the targets? The GEO BON Open Science Conference on “Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Monitoring for the 2020 Targets and beyond” will assess this question. The conference is open to the wide scientific public and is sponsored and co-organized by iDiv, UFZ, SASCAL (others to come). The conference will foster scientifically sound biodiversity monitoring by in-situ and remote sensing methodologies, monitoring of ecosystem services, modeling of biodiversity at all scales and in all dimensions and especially encourage interdisciplinary research. It will show ways forward in biodiversity observation and the development of Essential Biodiversity Variables. ... [Information of the supplier]
Welcome to the European Ecosystem Services 2016 conference! The theme 'Helping nature to help us' focuses on the important role that healthy ecosystems play in supporting human well-being and the protection of nature. This conference will be the biggest European event in 2016 that links science, policy and practice on ecosystem services and natural capital. It will have a strong focus on practice and implementation. ... [Information of the supplier]
