... [Information des Anbieters, verändert]
To conserve the world’s oceans we must go beyond science, and use it to inform policy and management, and ultimately to catalyze change. The International Marine Conservation Congress--hosted by the Society for Conservation Biology Marine Section--brings together conservation professionals and students to develop new and powerful tools to further marine conservation science and policy. ... A considerable number of interdisciplinary researches have been developed at the interface between hydrology and ecology during the last decade. The increasing number of peer-reviewed papers on the topic demonstrates the vitality of this theme. This interest in coupling hydrological and ecological studies has been triggered by purely scientific questions related to the quantification of the role of interactions between hydrological and biological processes on surface and groundwater resources and quality, but also by the importance of these physical and biological interactions at small, local and regional scales. These scales are of paramount importance for applied environmental issues related to air and water quality or biodiversity dynamics for instance. The aim of this fourth conference after the three last ones in Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad), Czech Republic in 2006, and in Vienna in Austria in 2009 and 2011, is fourfold: i) to present new findings and approaches on interactions between hydrology and ecology, ii) to promote interdisciplinary interactions on water related issues between hydrology, hydrogeology, biogeochemistry, microbial ecology and ecology, iii) to explore emerging patterns, breakthroughs and Challenges, and iv) to provide management applications and guidelines to tackle environmental issues. To address the relevant issues, the conference aims to bring together experts from different disciplines such as hydrologists (groundwater, surface water), ecologists, biologists, subsurface microbiologists, environmental biogeochemists, eco-technologists, geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers, forest managers, nature reserve managers, regional and landscape planners, as well as experts from governmental institutions. ... The Portuguese Association for the Study and Conservation of Elasmobranchs (www.apece.pt), the Marine Resources Research Group of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (www.girm.ipleiria.pt) and Flying Sharks (www.flyingsharks.eu) are the proud hosts of the 19th Annual Scientific Conference of the European Elasmobranch Association (www.eulasmo.org) from the 9th to the 11th of October at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology (www.estm.ipleiria.pt), in Peniche, Portugal. The conference will provide a platform for those involved in international science and policy and aims to help coordinate the information necessary for the development and implementation of management measures for rays and sharks in European waters. EEA 2015 will be of interest to all those who are involved in the study, management and conservation of chondrichthyans (sharks, skates, rays and chimaeras). ... [Information of the supplier]
The INTECOL International Wetlands Conference is the largest, most influential international conference in the field of wetland science and applications. It is held every four years with the support of the INTECOL Wetland Working Group (WWG). We are pleased to announce that the 10th INTECOL International Wetlands Conference will be held in Changshu, China, on September 19-24, 2016. This conference will provide a platform to review advances in research on wetland biodiversity and ecosystem management as well as the functional roles of wetlands in wastewater treatment, ecosystem services and wise use. The conference program will include various symposiums, workshops and open sessions related to the conference theme, plus a one day mid-conference excursion. ... [Information of the supplier]
The Dutch Elasmobranch Society is pleased to host the 21st Annual European Elasmobranch Association Scientific Conference from 12-14 October in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We hope to meet you at a stimulating conference where the latest and greatest in elasmobranch research will be presented. In keeping with the EEA’s role of providing an interface between science and policy, we have chosen as an underlying theme for this year’s meeting:“The science you need for the policy you want” Conference sessions will cover: perspectives for spatial management; movement ecology; coherence in international legislation and policy; selectivity, survival, and discards of elasmobranchs in fisheries; and elasmobranch husbandry. We are proud to announce that Dr. Neil Hammerschlag, Dr. Robert Hueter, and Dr. Kim Friedman will be keynote speakers at the Conference. The three-day conference will be held at the grand building of the KIT Royal Tropical Institute, only a stone’s throw away from the city center with all its famous historical sites and landmarks, and within walking distance from the Amsterdam Zoo and several beautifully landscaped parks. Amsterdam is a popular destination in Autumn, so we advice everyone to make travel arrangements as soon as possible, as prices may rise over the summer. ... [Information of the supplier]
