The 29th Fungal Genetics Conference promotes the dissemination of the latest research on all aspects of fungal genetics with a focus on filamentous fungi and encourages communication and collaboration between researchers interested in genomics, gene regulation, cell biology and development, evolutionary biology, fungal-host interactions and biotechnology. The preliminary program is now available. The conference will open on Tuesday evening, March 14 with a Welcome Reception from 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm and end on Sunday, March 19. The meeting will be returning to the Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, California. The latest advances in fungal biology are presented at plenary, concurrent and poster sessions. Die Internationale Tagung der DGfM 2018 wird vom 6.10.2018 bis zum 11.10.2018 im Heinrich-Lübke-Haus in Möhnesee am Nordrand des Sauerlandes (NRW) stattfinden. Fußläufig von der Tagungsstätte schließt sich südlich der Arnsberger Wald an - ein riesiges zusammenhängendes Waldgebiet. Die Fichten- und Buchenforste sind von Bächen und Erlenbrüchen durchzogen. Bei Neuhaus gibt es eine Naturwaldzelle mit sehr alten Buchen. Nördlich, Richtung Soest, liegen auf einem ehemaligen Truppenübungsplatz große Magerwiesen und Gehölzparzellen auf Kalkmergel. Kalkböden ziehen sich auch am Nordrand des Arnsberger Waldes und weiter nordöstlich entlang. In den dortigen Buchen- und Eichenwäldern, z.B. bei Warstein und Eringerfeld, sind zahlreiche Raritäten zu Hause, wie der Jungfernschirmling (Leucoagaricus nympharum) oder der Weinrötliche Schleimschirmling (Limacella vinosorubescens), und auch viele Täublinge (Russula spp.). Auf dem Höhenrücken im Süden des Arnsberger Waldes finden sich auf über 500 Höhenmetern mehrere Quellmoore, teilweise mit Moorbirken, und weitere totholzreiche Buchen- und Fichtenwälder. The "14th European Fusarium Seminar" will take place from April 8-11, 2018 in Tulln, Austria. It will be jointly organized by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) and the Austrian Association of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology, in cooperation with the International Society of Mycotoxicology. The EFS14 will be an excellent opportunity to present and discuss the progress made in all fields related to Fusarium research, ranging from medical research to plant pathology and from mycotoxin research to mitigation strategies. Topics like molecular taxonomy and detection of plant and animal pathogens, climate change or crop related changes in the Fusarium species and chemotype spectrum will be covered. "Host resistance genomics, genetics and plant breeding" will deal with studies about host resistance mechanisms (QTL and association mapping, transcriptomics, etc.), while work with a focus on the chemistry of host-pathogen interaction will be covered in the session "Fusarium secondary metabolites and metabolomics of Fusarium-host plant interactions". The session "Fusarium mycotoxins: toxicology, metabolism and remediation" will present new insights into classical Fusarium mycotoxins and toxin metabolism, but also emerging compounds and interactions of Fusarium metabolites will be included. A strong focus will be on strategies to detoxify and utilize contaminated grain.
