The mission of the International Commission on the Taxonomy of Fungi is to promote the science of fungal taxonomy, both by facilitating the development of high scientific standards among practising taxonomists, and by providing information to people who need to access or interpret taxonomic information on fungal taxonomy. Our membership is international and includes respected scientists studying most major fungal or fungus-like groups of organisms. Much of our business is undertaken by a series of subcommissions devoted to furthering our taxonomic understanding of critical fungal groups. We meet at the IMA International Mycological Congress every four years, and when possible at other meetings, such as the annual CBS Spring Mycology Symposium, and organize and sponsor sessions or symposia at other congresses. Members and officers of the commission are elected by the existing members. The ICTF is a COMCOF (Committees, Commissions and Federations) of the International Union of Microbiological Sciences (IUMS) and the International Mycological Association (IMA). ICTF is also tightly aligned with the ICPA (IUMS International Commission on Penicillium and Aspergillus) and the NCF (Nomenclature Committee for Fungi). ... [Information of the supplier]
The International Biometric Society is an international society promoting the development and application of statistical and mathematical theory and methods in the biosciences, including agriculture, biomedical science and public health, ecology, environmental sciences, forestry, and allied disciplines. The Society welcomes as members statisticians, mathematicians, biological scientists, and others devoted to interdisciplinary efforts in advancing the collection and interpretation of information in the biosciences. The Society publishes two journals, Biometrics, reporting communications consistent with the Society’s mission, and, jointly with the American Statistical Association, the Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Statistics. The Society is organized into geographically-defined Regions, each with at least 10 members. The Society is governed by an Executive Committee of General Officers and a legislative Council representing the international diversity of the membership. Regions elect their own officers and governing boards. ... [Information of the supplier]
In the year 2003 scientists from around Germany initiated the establishment of the German Society for Stem Cell Research (GSZ) with emphasis on basic research in stem cell biology. The society is a non-profit organisation, financially and politically autonomous, and is registered with the district court Cologne under the number VR 14639 since November 4th 2004. The main purpose of the society is to promote stem cell research. In order to achieve this goal the society will promote the stem cell research in basic research and in academic teaching by allocating available funds to support training programs, to organize seminars and conferences, as well as instigating the exchange of students and scientists on national and international level for collaborative projects and resulting publications. ... The International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) serves over 3,000 members from more than 70 countries by addressing scientific policies, providing access to high quality publications, organizing meetings, and serving as a portal to information about training, education, employment and news from related fields. ISCB hosts annual meetings, including ISMB, the world's longest running and largest bioinformatics conference (held jointly with ECCB every other year in Europe). ISCB also affiliates with several other significant meetings of our science, has two official journals of the highest impact factors in the Mathematical & Computational Biology category, and has affiliations in place with several other publications for the benefit of our members. ISCB is incorporated in the United States as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and registered in the state of California as a Charitable Trust. Now hosted at the San Diego Supercomputer Center at University of California, San Diego, the Society was officially formed in 1997 as an outgrowth of the International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB). From humble beginnings, both ISCB's membership and ISMB's annual attendance have kept pace with the overall growth experienced in the field of bioinformatics/computational biology. For the complete story from conception to present day please visit the History link. Additional links provide copies of documents that detail the legal structure of ISCB, which may prove interesting to our current and prospective members, as well as be of some use to regional groups around the world wanting to form national or regional societies and not knowing how to begin. And finally, activities over the years are documented in the Newsletter Archives. We encourage you to peruse all of these links for a perspective on where we've been and where you might help lead us in the years ahead. ... [Information of the supplier]
The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organization dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. The Society's membership comprises a wide range of people interested in the conservation and study of biological diversity: resource managers, educators, government and private conservation workers, and students make up the more than 5,000 members world-wide. The Society was founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 8, 1985. The SCB envisions a world where people understand, value, and conserve the diversity of life on Earth. We envision SCB, a global community of conservation professionals, as a leading scientific voice for the study and conservation of Earth's biological diversity. The Society for Conservation Biology advances the science and practice of conserving Earth's biological diversity. ... [Information of the supplier]
... [Information des Anbieters]
Experimental Biology is the study of the form and function of animals and plants at all levels of organisation from the molecular and cellular to the whole organism. The ethos of Experimental Biology is one of interdisciplinary studies usually conducted within the context of the environment and evolution of the organism. The Society for Experimental Biology believes that the broad nature and lack of “ology” boundaries implicit in Experimental Biology give it a pivotal role in the development of Life Sciences which are of considerable benefit to its members and to society. In particular, Experimental Biology contributes to knowledge that can be applied to the development of agriculture and medicine and to understanding the impacts of human activity on living organisms and ecosystems. ... Over the last 20 years, biodiversity research has been established and shaped as a young interdisciplinary research field. In light of the global biodiversity crisis, however, this research is under pressure related to time and expectations and investments are necessary. The German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) since October 1, 2012, and will become a hub for biodiversity research. The German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) concentrates expertise across city and state borders, brings together top scientists, connects theoreticians and empiricists of manifold research fields, focuses on theory and synthesis (synthesis centre sDiv), educates a new generation of scientists in transdisciplinary biodiversity research (graduate school yDiv) and communicates the importance of safeguarding biodiversity. ...
