In the year 2003 scientists from around Germany initiated the establishment of the German Society for Stem Cell Research (GSZ) with emphasis on basic research in stem cell biology. The society is a non-profit organisation, financially and politically autonomous, and is registered with the district court Cologne under the number VR 14639 since November 4th 2004. The main purpose of the society is to promote stem cell research. In order to achieve this goal the society will promote the stem cell research in basic research and in academic teaching by allocating available funds to support training programs, to organize seminars and conferences, as well as instigating the exchange of students and scientists on national and international level for collaborative projects and resulting publications. ... The International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) serves over 3,000 members from more than 70 countries by addressing scientific policies, providing access to high quality publications, organizing meetings, and serving as a portal to information about training, education, employment and news from related fields. ISCB hosts annual meetings, including ISMB, the world's longest running and largest bioinformatics conference (held jointly with ECCB every other year in Europe). ISCB also affiliates with several other significant meetings of our science, has two official journals of the highest impact factors in the Mathematical & Computational Biology category, and has affiliations in place with several other publications for the benefit of our members. ISCB is incorporated in the United States as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and registered in the state of California as a Charitable Trust. Now hosted at the San Diego Supercomputer Center at University of California, San Diego, the Society was officially formed in 1997 as an outgrowth of the International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB). From humble beginnings, both ISCB's membership and ISMB's annual attendance have kept pace with the overall growth experienced in the field of bioinformatics/computational biology. For the complete story from conception to present day please visit the History link. Additional links provide copies of documents that detail the legal structure of ISCB, which may prove interesting to our current and prospective members, as well as be of some use to regional groups around the world wanting to form national or regional societies and not knowing how to begin. And finally, activities over the years are documented in the Newsletter Archives. We encourage you to peruse all of these links for a perspective on where we've been and where you might help lead us in the years ahead. ... [Information of the supplier]
The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organization dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. The Society's membership comprises a wide range of people interested in the conservation and study of biological diversity: resource managers, educators, government and private conservation workers, and students make up the more than 5,000 members world-wide. The Society was founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 8, 1985. The SCB envisions a world where people understand, value, and conserve the diversity of life on Earth. We envision SCB, a global community of conservation professionals, as a leading scientific voice for the study and conservation of Earth's biological diversity. The Society for Conservation Biology advances the science and practice of conserving Earth's biological diversity. ... [Information of the supplier]
... [Information des Anbieters]
Experimental Biology is the study of the form and function of animals and plants at all levels of organisation from the molecular and cellular to the whole organism. The ethos of Experimental Biology is one of interdisciplinary studies usually conducted within the context of the environment and evolution of the organism. The Society for Experimental Biology believes that the broad nature and lack of “ology” boundaries implicit in Experimental Biology give it a pivotal role in the development of Life Sciences which are of considerable benefit to its members and to society. In particular, Experimental Biology contributes to knowledge that can be applied to the development of agriculture and medicine and to understanding the impacts of human activity on living organisms and ecosystems. ... The mission of the International Association of Bryologists (IAB), as a society, is to strengthen bryology by encouraging interactions among all persons interested in byophytes. The International Association of Bryologists (IAB) is an organization established in 1969 at the XI International Botanical Congress in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. The aim of the organization is to promote international cooperation and communication among bryologists, whether amateur or professional. This is achieved through sponsorship and arrangement of meetings and symposia that relate to the various aspects of bryology, and by IAB sponsored publications including The Bryological Times. The Association also supports the publication of reviews, lists, software, and compendia. ... [Information of the supplier]

The survival of a species is dependent on maintaining the health and well-being of individuals and populations. The production of hormones is the foundation of species survival by regulating reproduction and facilitating the maintenance of homeostasis. Researchers have been evaluating and monitoring gonadal, pituitary and adrenal hormones for decades and yet our understanding of these physiological mechanisms is limited to only a small percent (2-3%) of wildlife species. The International Society of Wildlife Endocrinology (ISWE) was initiated in 2010, out of a desire by wildlife endocrinologists to further our knowledge and expand our potential resources in this field of study. ISWE presents an opportunity for developing and applying non-invasive endocrine monitoring techniques much more broadly and systematically to help solve a variety of management problems for many zoo-held species. As well, these tools can also be used to monitor, better understand and manage the health and well-being of wildlife. ... [Information of the supplier]
