The Jena Library of Biological Macromolecules (JenaLib) is aimed at a better dissemination of information on three-dimensional biopolymer structures with an emphasis on visualization and analysis. It provides access to all structure entries deposited at the Protein Data Bank (PDB) or at the Nucleic Acid Database (NDB). In addition, basic information on the architecture of biopolymer structures is available. The JenaLib intends to fulfill both scientific and educational needs. ... [Information of the supplier]
SRS (sequence retrieval system) is one of the most powerful data browsing/retrieval tools available. SRS provides rapid, easy and user friendly access to the large volumes of diverse and heterogeneous Life Science data stored in more than 400 internal and public domain databases. It can be used to browse the various biological sequence and literature databases the EBI has available. ... [Information of the supplier]
... The Genetic Science Learning Center is an outreach education program located in the midst of bioscience research at the University of Utah. Our mission is to help people understand how genetics affects their lives and society. To achieve this mission, we present education offerings for various audiences, including: 1. This website, which delivers interactive and print-based resources, free of charge, to Internet users worldwide. The website has two main components: a.) Information and activities: These address standards for science education, and are accessible to all users from the homepage b.) Teacher Resources and Lesson Plans: These are accessible from the top right of any page. They include PDF-based Print-and-Go classroom activities and teacher guides for all materials. 2. Professional development programs that update K-12 teachers' expertise in bioscience topics. See our list of upcoming courses and workshops, accessible through the Resources and Lesson Plans section of this site. 3. Public education programs that highlight topics of current interest and research underway at the University of Utah. Our educational resources provide accurate and unbiased information about topics in genetics and bioscience. Designed for non-research audiences, our materials are interactive and jargon-free, target multiple learning styles, and often convey concepts through visual elements. Our newest materials are being developed with our Exploragraphic design methodology. Some topics in genetics and bioscience research are controversial. The Learning Center does not take sides in politically or ethically charged topics. Rather, our goal is to provide comprehensive information that promotes a lively discussion of these topics, so that individuals can arrive at their own informed decisions. ... ... [Redaktion vifabio]
This website is brought to you by The Epigenome Network of Excellence, a european research network dedicated to supporting high calibre science in the rapidly expanding field of epigenetics. [Information of the supplier]
Epigenetics is an emerging frontier of science that involves the study of changes in the regulation of gene activity and expression that are not dependent on gene sequence. For purposes of the Roadmap Epigenomics Project, epigenetics refers to both heritable changes in gene activity and expression (in the progeny of cells or of individuals) and also stable, long-term alterations in the transcriptional potential of a cell that are not necessarily heritable. While epigenetics refers to the study of single genes or sets of genes, epigenomics refers to more global analyses of epigenetic changes across the entire genome. The NIH Roadmap Epigenomics Mapping Consortium was launched with the goal of producing a public resource of human epigenomic data to catalyze basic biology and disease-oriented research. The Consortium leverages experimental pipelines built around next-generation sequencing technologies to map DNA methylation, histone modifications, chromatin accessibility and small RNA transcripts in stem cells and primary ex vivo tissues selected to represent the normal counterparts of tissues and organ systems frequently involved in human disease. The Consortium expects to deliver a collection of normal epigenomes that will provide a framework or reference for comparison and integration within a broad array of future studies. The Consortium also aims to close the gap between data generation and its public dissemination by rapid release of raw sequence data, profiles of epigenomics features and higher-level integrated maps to the scientific community. ...
