The Amazon Tree Diversity Network is an electronic network of 143 botanists, ecologists and taxonomists that share data and information on tree diversity in the pan-Amazon (Amazonia s.s. and the Guyana Shield). Our drive is to gain a better understanding of the processes that drive (patterns of) alfa- and beta-diversity in the region and, through this knowledge, contribute to better conservation strategies for the region. Currently we work with data from botanical 1-ha plots (and sometimes different sizes), forest inventories, and herbarium collections. In 2003 the work of ATDN resulted the first accurate and robust map of tree alpha-diversity of the Amazon. We unravelled relationships between climate and diversity. The combination of the above results and use of functional groups, successfully tried in some of our Guyana plots, and now also in the Amazon, can perhaps help us to predict the effect of global change in these important and beautiful forests. ... caArray is an open-source, web and programmatically accessible array data management system. caArray guides the annotation and exchange of array data using a federated model of local installations whose results are shareable across the cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG™). caArray furthers translational cancer research through acquisition, dissemination and aggregation of semantically interoperable array data to support subsequent analysis by tools and services on and off the Grid. As array technology advances and matures, caArray will extend its logical library of assay management. ... [Information of the supplier]
This meeting will provide a forum for biocurators and developers of biological databases to discuss their work, promote collaboration and foster a sense of community in this very active and growing area of research. Participants from academia, government, and industry interested in the methods and tools employed in curation of biological data are encouraged to attend, and to submit an abstract for consideration for an oral or poster presentation. ... RIsources (RI = Research Infrastructure) is a portal operated by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) containing information about scientific research infrastructures which provide researchers with resources and services for planning and implementing research projects. RIsources includes research infrastructures which offer recognised, established scientific and technological facilities or services, permit free access or regulate access through a transparent selection process based on scientific quality and project feasibility, and are managed according to sustainable principles and have a long-term perspective. ... An increasing number of universities and research organisations are starting to build research data repositories to allow permanent access in a trustworthy environment to data sets resulting from research at their institutions. Due to varying disciplinary requirements, the landscape of research data repositories is very heterogeneous. This makes it difficult for researchers, funding bodies, publishers, and scholarly institutions to select an appropriate repository for storage of research data or to search for data. The re3data.org registry allows the easy identification of appropriate research data repositories, both for data producers and users. The registry covers research data repositories from all academic disciplines. ... [Information of the supplier]
The Seventh International Biocuration Conference will be held at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, from April 6-9, 2014. Hosted by the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, this meeting will provide a forum for curators and developers of biological databases to discuss their work, promote collaboration and foster a sense of community in this very active and growing area of research. Participants from academia, government and industry interested in the methods and tools employed in curation of biological and medical data are encouraged to attend. ... [Information of the supplier]
... [Information des Anbieters]
Environmental and biological research is becoming central to major societal challenges related to the Earth’s ecosystems and climate dynamics. To handle the scale and complexity of the scientific questions being addressed, there is a strong need to integrate knowledge because biological data are currently scattered and difficult to share. We propose here a coherent infrastructure to improve scientific data integration and preservation. The overall goal is to provide a sustainable, service oriented, national data infrastructure facilitating data sharing and stimulating data intensive science in the fields of biological and environmental research. ... The BiodiversityCatalogue is a centralised registry of curated biodiversity Web services. It allows you to easily discover, register, annotate, monitor and use Web services. The BioCatalogue software is a joint development by The University of Manchester and The European Bioinformatics Institute. It was initially funded by the BBSRC. Further enhancements are currently being developed by the BioVeL Project. ... [Information of the supplier]
