Flora Nordica is a research project with the aim to produce a scientifically based flora of the vascular plants in northern Europe. This flora should be a synthesis of previous research, indicating problems which should be considered in future research; it will comprise 15 volumes (3 published so far) and is written in English. Flora Nordica treats all vascular plants (native or alien) wild-growing in Norden (map), i.e. Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Norway (incl. Svalbard and Jan Mayen) and Sweden. Seit 1984 werden in der Schweiz die Moose im Rahmen des Projektes "Nationales Inventar der Schweizer Moosflora" kartiert. Die schweizerische Vereinigung für Bryologie und Lichenologie (BRYOLICH) übernimmt die Trägerschaft. Eine Kartierkommission berät die Projektleitung in wichtigen Fragen.Das Hauptziel ist ein Atlas mit Rasterkarten auf naturräumlicher Basis von allen sicher unterscheidbaren Moos-Sippen der Schweiz. Das erste Nahziel war eine Rote Liste. Die erste Fassung wurde 1992 publiziert (Urmi et al. 1992), eine vollständig revidierte Fassung folgte 2004 (Schnyder et al. 2004). Der im Jahre 2003 als Arbeitskreis und am 8. Dezember 2007 als Verein (Satzung, Vorstand) in Bayreuth gegründete ‚Verein Flora Nordostbayern' e.V. hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, eine gründliche Erforschung und Kartierung der Pflanzenvorkommen im nordostbayerischen Raum durchzuführen. Es handelt sich dabei um das Gebiet, das westlich bis an die Ostgrenze der Regnitz- bzw. Unterfrankenkartierung, nach Osten an die tschechische Grenze und nach Norden an Thüringen und Sachsen grenzt. Südlich reicht das Kartiergebiet bis zu einer Linie Sulzbach-Rosenberg - Pfreimd - Schönberg. Übersichtskarte Geplant ist die Herausgabe einer kritischen, modernen Gebietsflora. SynBioSys Europe, an initiative of the European Vegetation Survey, is an information system for the evaluation and management of biodiversity among plant species, vegetation types and landscapes. The project is coordinated from Alterra at Wageningen, in The Netherlands, and will function as a network of distributed databases related through a web-server. It incorporates a GIS platform for the visualisation of layers of information on plant species, vegetation and landscape data, and offers the possibility to identify vegetation types and to analyse the patterns and processes which relate them to plant species, and landscape types. The expert system will enhance the capacity of European nature and environment agencies to participate in the management and interpretation of information on species, vegetation and landscape both at a national and at a European scale. ... The study of the Flora of Thailand, with its estimated 10,000 vascular plants species, has been gathering momentum in the last few years and has now reached a well-advanced stage. The Flora of Thailand Project, whose aim is to produce a complete floristic treatment of the entire vascular flora, really started to take off the ground around 1958 with the Thai-Danish, Thai-Dutch and Thai-Japanese botanical expeditions. The publication of the 'Flora of Thailand' with T. Smitinand (after his death with T. Santisuk) and K. Larsen as editors commenced in 1970 and is ongoing. Nine volumes (in 24 parts) of the Flora have now been published. The success of the Flora of Thailand Project is partly due to a very efficient international collaboration and regularly meeting every four years to plan the work ahead for the Flora. Ein Schwerpunkt senckenbergischer Forschung ist seit der Gründung der SNG die Flora des Rhein-Main-Gebietes und Hessens. Dies wird durch zahlreiche Publikationen sowie umfangreiche Herbaraufsammlungen und unveröffentlichte Daten im Herbarium Senckenbergianum (FR) dokumentiert. Durch die seit 1985 im Auftrag des Umweltamtes der Stadt Frankfurt durchgeführte Biotopkartierung und Sonderprojekte zur Biodiversitätserfassung liegt eine einzigartige, umfangreiche Datenbasis zu Inventar und Verbreitung der Pflanzenarten in Frankfurt vor. Auf der Basis dieser Daten und jahrelanger Geländearbeit wurde eine aktuelle Liste der Farn- und Blütenpflanzen in Frankfurt am Main erstellt, die hier als Download abrufbar ist. The aim of the Czech National Phytosociological Database is to gather computerized phytosociological information (vegetation relevés) from the territory of the Czech Republic in a large database that will facilitate easy access to relevant data for the purposes of vegetation surveys, mapping etc. These activities are a part of wider European projects co-ordinated by the Working Group for European Vegetation Survey of the International Association for Vegetation Science, e.g. SynBioSys. The data are stored in the TURBOVEG database management program by S.M. Hennekens which is a European standard software for phytosociological databases. The Czech National Phytosociological Database is co-ordinated from the Department of Botany, Masaryk University, Brno, with several local co-ordinators in other institutes, namely in the Institute of Botany, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The co-ordinator of the database is Milan Chytry. An integral part of the database project is the development of methods for data analysis.
