On behalf of the Organizing Committee it is a great pleasure to invite you to the 2nd INPPO World Congress 2016 (INPPO2016 Bratislava) jointly organized by the International Plant Proteomics Organization (INPPO) and ‘Phenomen-all’ COST Action FA1306. INPPO was established in 2011 to advance the utilization of proteomics technology in plants as well as to create a way for plant proteomics researchers to interact, collaborate and exchange ideas. The aim of the EU Food and Agriculture COST Action FA1306 is to create a network of European scientists with expertise on phenotyping, various -omics areas and/or physiology to (re)discover tolerant varieties and to understand tolerance. The Congress will take place in Bratislava (Slovakia), a cosmopolitan city located 80 km from Vienna (Austria). The congress will be hosted by the Institute of Plant Genetics and Biotechnology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. All areas of plant proteomics will be covered keeping in mind the diversity of proteomics research in plant sciences. INPPO2016 Bratislava will bring together leading experts in plant proteomics from all over the world and provide a critical mass in proteomics technologies and applications on all aspects of plant proteomics and cellular phenotyping. The Congress will start on Sunday (September 4, 2016) with registration, poster mounting, evening lecture and welcome reception. Keynote lectures and round table discussions will help to discuss individual open questions with experts in the field including breeders. Scientific sessions with invited speakers and presentations selected from submitted abstracts will cover specific thematic areas in plant proteomics, cellular phenotyping, and systems biology related to physiological aspects (e.g. plant development and nutrition, interaction with environmental factors). Poster sessions will play a central role and provide the opportunity to discuss your results in more detail. Member gathering and committee meetings will be arranged. INPPO2016 Bratislava is a continuation of bi-annual meetings initiated in 2014 (INPPO2014 Hamburg), and that provides insight into the most recent advances in proteomics technologies and applications, such as gel-based and gel-free proteomics, mass spectrometry, including quantitative approaches and bioinformatics, post-translational modifications, protein-protein interactions and signaling, sub-proteomics (organelles, membranes, cell wall, etc.), functional proteomics and translational proteomics. An industry exhibition will present the latest products in proteomics technologies. Scientific journals publishing in the field of Plant Proteomics, such as Proteomics or Frontiers in Plant Sciences, will present latest publication strategies and standards in Plant Proteomics. ... The EMBO conference ‘The nitrogen nutrition of plants - Nitrogen2016’ will be the third international symposium on the nitrogen nutrition of plants, following Nitrogen2013 in Puerto Varas (Chile) and Nitrogen2010 in Inuyama-city (Japan) and the founder meeting Nitrogen2007 in Lancaster (UK).
