The SIB and GeneBio have joined their efforts and expertise to bring to you neXtProt that was designed to help researchers make sense of what all these human proteins do in our bodies. neXtProt is both a new and an old resource: new, because we want to create an innovative integrative resource around human proteins and old, because we are building it on top of the high-quality solid work that has been the hallmark of UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot since its inception in 1986. The extensive efforts made by Swiss-Prot to functionally annotate human proteins and curate their sequences and many other features is the foundation on which neXtProt relies. However, clearly this is not enough to populate a resource that needs to address the complexity of the universe of human proteins. ... [Information of the supplier]
H-DBAS is a unique database of alternative splicing (AS) based on H-InvDB. The features of H-DBAS is as follows: 1) Representative AS variants (RASVs) were identified from 8 data sets consist of 6 mammalian model organisms (human, mouse, rat, chimpanzee, macaque and dog). The contents of data sets and the corresponding species are as follows: Full-length cDNA data set, mRNA data set, RNA data set 2) Equally-spliced variants (ESVs) were identified from RASVs between human and mouse, rat, chimpanzee, macaque and dog by using comparative genomics. Splice sites and splice motifs affecting SNPs can be observed in human. 3) RASVs affecting protein functions (protein motif, GO, subcellular localization signal and transmembrane domain) can be observed in human. 4) AS junctions expressed in specified cellular fractions (cytoplasm, nuclear and polysome) of human cell were detected by using RNA-Seq tags. The translation validation of the variants having AS junctions were analyzed by compared with RefSeq junctions. The results are shown from RNA-Seq analysis page. ... [Information of the supplier]
Volunteers from the general public working together with researchers to advance personal genomics. We believe individuals from the general public have a vital role to play in making personal genomes useful. We are recruiting volunteers who are willing to share their genome sequence and many types of personal information with the research community and the general public, so that together we will be better able to advance our understanding of genetic and environmental contributions to human traits. Learn more about how to participate in the Personal Genome Project. ... [Information of the supplier]

ESHE, the European Society for the study of Human Evolution, promotes the broad field of research which investigates how humans evolved both biologically and culturally. Contributing disciplines typically include hominin palaeontology and palaeogenetics; comparative and functional studies of extant primates, using both morphological and molecular evidence; palaeolithic archaeology; and applied studies of stable isotopes, dating, taphonomy, palaeoecology and palaeogeography. ESHE aims to stimulate communication and scientific cooperation between scientists, and to improve public understanding of human evolution. Core activities of the society will be: to organize yearly meetings, with a scientific programme, as well as a public-outreach event, to encourage and help develop international and interdisciplinary research proposals and projects, and to initiate and support activities which increase the public and political visibility of human evolution studies. The European Society for the study of Human Evolution is registered as a non-profit organization. ... [Information of the supplier]
Physical anthropology is a biological science that deals with the adaptations, variability, and evolution of human beings and their living and fossil relatives. Because it studies human biology in the context of human culture and behavior, physical anthropology is also a social science. The AAPA is the world's leading professional organization for physical anthropologists. Formed by 83 charter members in 1930, the AAPA now has an international membership of over 1,700. The Association's annual meetings draw more than a thousand scientists and students from all over the world. ... [Information of the supplier]

The tasks of the Robert Koch Institute include the monitoring of emerging diseases and risk factors in the general population as well as the provision of scientific research. This allows appropriate measures to protect the general public health to be taken in a rapid and effective way. These tasks make the RKI the central institution and the coordination centre for the Federal Ministry for Health for applied and basic research in the areas of infectious diseases, including infection epidemiology and epidemiology of non-transmissible diseases. On this basis, the RKI is in the position to suggest measures for intervention and prevention, to fill gaps in the knowledge and ensure the quality of health screening and care. The RKI takes part in the preparation of guidelines, recommendations and expert opinions for the federal government, the parliament, the scientific sector and other health-related political issues. ...
