ISMB 2013 will bring together scientists from a wide range of disciplines, including biology, medicine, computer science, mathematics and statistics. In these fields we are constantly dealing with information in visual form: from microscope images and photographs of gels to scatter plots, network graphs and phylogenetic trees, structural formulae and protein models to flow diagrams, visual aids for problem-solving are omnipresent. Some of the works of the annual exhibitions at the conference combines outstanding beauty and aesthetics with deep insight that perfectly proves the validity of our approach or goes beyond the problem's solution. Others were surprising and inspiring through the transition from science to art, opening our eyes and minds to reflect on the work that we are undertaking. ... [Information of the supplier]
The conference is organized by the Great Lakes Bioinformatics Consortium to provide an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of research findings and methods. An important goal for the conference is to foster long term collaborative relationships and networking opportunities within the domain of computational approaches to biology. GLBIO 2013 is co-hosted by Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, with the conference taking place on the Carnegie Mellon campus. The program will include oral presentations, poster presentations, invited keynote speakers and tutorials. ... [Information of the supplier]
This meeting will provide a forum for biocurators and developers of biological databases to discuss their work, promote collaboration and foster a sense of community in this very active and growing area of research. Participants from academia, government, and industry interested in the methods and tools employed in curation of biological data are encouraged to attend, and to submit an abstract for consideration for an oral or poster presentation. ... The first annual International Environmental ‘Omics Synthesis conference will be held in Cardiff, UK, on September 9-11th, 2013. This conference is supported by NERC Mathematics and informatics for Environmental ‘Omics data Synthesis program and the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council Futures Programme under the coordination of the recently established Environmental ‘Omic Synthesis Centre (EOS). The aim of this conference is to bring together researchers and organisations from a range of disciplines representing those involved in the development of new approaches in data handling and generation with those harnessing ‘Omics to advance key areas in Environmental Science. It is our hope is that the resulting interaction and exchange of ideas will lead to novel approaches, new collaborations and the establishment of a wider integrated ‘Omics community. ... Biodiversity Informatics Horizons 2013 (BIH2013) is part of a continuing process that helps to structure and organise the biodiversity informatics community at the European level and beyond. BIH2013 will take place over 3 full days, from lunchtime on Tuesday 3rd September to lunchtime Friday 6th. The venue will be in Rome (awaiting final confirmation). There have been many successful projects in biodiversity informatics, both at national and supranational level. In Europe this trend has grown under Framework Programmes 5, 6 and 7 and is expected to continue in Horizon 2020. Similar activities have occurred outside Europe, and efforts in biodiversity informatics are increasingly internationally coordinated on the global stage. To respond to the challenges and priorities of the next decade in biodiversity and ecosystems research, structuring bottom-up and top-down interactions on informatics and cooperating across the community is now an essential activity. Cooperation avoids unnecessary duplication of activity. It helps to maximise and focus effort on building the information resources, tools and infrastructure the scientists and policymakers need. We all know the importance of this as we face environmental, societal and human health challenges on global scale. Science in support of policy to mitigate biodiversity loss due to climate and other man-made changes, to assure food security, and to combat invasive species (to give just a few examples) can only be achieved by full integration of the biodiversity research community through a commonly-shared, sustainable e-infrastructure across all sub-disciplines that reliably serves science and society alike. Hence, the need to coordinate. ... [Information of the supplier, modified]

The 8th edition of the BeNeLux Bioinformatics Conference will be held in Brussels (Belgium) on December 9-10, 2013. The conference is organised by the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, which have recently joined their efforts in the bioinformatics field with the creation of the Interuniversity Institute of Bioinformatics in Brussels (IB). The BeNeLux Bioinformatics Conference is an annual conference that started in 2005, bringing together researchers from the Benelux and beyond to strengthen national and international connections in all fields of bioinformatics. The exchange will focus on advances in bioinformatics and applications in the areas of methodology development, biotechnology, and health. The theme of this year conference is: "Bioinformatics at all scales of life" The bioinformatics research field is inherently interdisciplinary and combines biology with different approaches from computer science, mathematics, ... ...
