The 11th International Symposium on Enchytraeidae (ISE) will take place at "Haus Ohrbeck" in Georgsmarienhütte near Osnabrück, Germany, July 25-27, 2014. Enchytraeids or 'potworms' are small relatives of earthworms distributed worldwide. Most of the species are soil-dwelling but some live in aquatic sediments. The symposium has a traditional focus on taxonomy and applied soil ecology, but actually it covers all aspects of the biology of enchytraeids, including developmental biology, physiology, phylogeny, and ecotoxicology. The symposium intends to be an occasion to share and to discuss new findings and views about these interesting worms while promoting a friendly interaction among experts, newcomers, or any other kind of participant. The symposia are held every two years since 1994 and they include talks, posters, and a taxonomic workshop. A peer-reviewed Proceedings volume, the "Newsletter on Enchytraeidae" is published usually within less than one year. Further information on abstract submission, travel, room & board, and programme will be sent around shortly. You may submit suggestions regarding topics, schedule and focus any time. ... The 11th topical meeting of the Ethological Society will take place at the German Primate Center in Göttingen. Göttingen has a long-standing tradition in anthropological and primate research. Based on the close collaboration between the Georg-August-University and the German Primate Center, Göttingen has become one of the leading centers for the study of primate behavior in Europe. We have assembled an international roster of speakers who explore the cognitive foundations of behavior and their evolution in a diverse array of taxa, including bees, birds and wolves. Contributions from researchers with a broad interest in the evolution of behavior and its cognitive foundations are welcome, particularly from PhD students and young postdoctoral fellows. There will be prizes for the best student talks and posters. ... [Information of the supplier]
... [Information des Anbieters]
Die 12. Hymenopterologen-Tagung findet vom 14. bis 16. Oktober 2016 in Stuttgart statt. ... [Information des Anbieters]
The next topical meeting of the Ethological Society will take at the University of Bonn from February 22nd to 24th of February 2017. The topic of 2017 “From Sensory Perception to Behaviour” covers the key processes that connect the environment to the individual and the individual back to the environment. Behaviour needs sensory perception and information processing and in turn, feeds back on these processes. Complex social behaviours of animals are striking examples for this interaction, when the behaviour of one animal constitutes the sensory input of another one. Researchers often focus on one of these complementary aspects, but all behavioural biologists are basically working on a core aspect of animal life: complex interactions with the environment. For this meeting, we have invited five international renowned keynote speakers, who will highlight this interrelationship of the senses and behaviour, which affects both the life of the individual as well as the evolution of behaviour and sensory systems. The meeting will take place at the Institute of Zoology in Bonn, located in the Poppelsdorfer Schloss and surrounded by the botanical garden. It will provide a stimulating environment for scientific and social interactions. Alongside the talks of the plenary speakers, plenty of time is reserved for short talks, which as usual can cover all facets of the behavioural sciences. We encourage especially young researchers to take the opportunity to discuss their work with us and to apply for an oral contribution. ... [Information of the supplier]
Palearctic dry grasslands have a long tradition of community analysis and description, leading to a detailed picture of these habitats, especially in Central Europe. In contrast, research on the biology of species and populations, such as pollination biology, dispersal ecology, demography or population genetics, is expanding rapidly. The connection between the two scientific disciplines is often weak although, actually, populations are part of communities and communities consist out of populations. We will therefore focus on this connection between population biology and community ecology for all dry grassland biota (invertebrates, vertebrates, non-vascular plants, vascular plants, fungi and lichens) as the overall topic of the next EDGM. ... The Macroecology 2019 meeting will be the 13th annual meeting of the specialist group Macroecology of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (GfÖ). The Specialist Group on Macroecology of the GfÖ is one of the leading scientific platforms for macroecological topics in central Europe. With the topic 'Bridging local patterns and global challenges', we invite contributions ranging from 'small data' to questions of global relevance for biodiversity research. Hence, Macroecology 2019 aims to foster the dialogue between empiricists dealing with local patterns, bioinformaticians, data scientists, theoreticians and modellers from central Europe and beyond, promoting scientific exchange and progress. The Macroecology 2019 will be held at the Biocenter of the University of Würzburg, which is located in the Hubland campus. ... [Information of the supplier]
When I write this, we still do not see the end of the present pandemic. This uncertainty led us to postpone our next EOU congress until spring 2022. Thus, I will take the opportunity to encourage you to participate in this vibrating event and to warmly welcome you to the Giessen congress in March 2022. [Information of the supplier]
