| Abstract: | Today millions of people around the globe are suffering from the severe effects of climate change and environmental disasters. It has never been more imperative than now to utilize the natural solutions we already have – bamboo and rattan. By hosting the first Global Bamboo and Rattan Congress (BARC2018), we seek to provide a platform for south-south and south-south-north cooperation on sustainable development and further develop bamboo and rattan’s role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On 25-27 June 2018, ministers, governments officials, scientists, conservationists, educators, and business leaders will gather together at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, to address these pressing global issues.
