| Abstract: | Beekeeping, Apiculture or Apidology belonged to the early education issues at the former Royal Prussian Academy of Agriculture at Bonn-Poppelsdorf. Its library, the predecessor of the ZB MED in Bonn, gathered literature on the subject from early on. Culture and breeding of the bee - one of the main farm animals - and the importance of bee products in nutrition and medicine reflect, on the one hand, very well the range of subjects the ZB MED represents. On the other hand, with the digitization of Pollmann's collection the ZB MED would like to contribute to research on the current, almost global problem of "bee death", research which is also an European Union and several German federal states' pilot project (EuBiMo). |
