| Abstract: | On August 15th, 1845, the Association for the Dutch Flora was founded, which later became the Royal Dutch Botanical Society (Koninklijke Nederlandse Vereniging Botanical; KNBV). The KNBV is one of the oldest scientific associations in the Netherlands. The purpose of the association is to promote the knowledge of plants. This means that research and teaching in diverse fields ranging from plant ecology, plant taxonomy and vegetation science to plant physiology and molecular botany are stimulated by the association. This website shows that this takes place through various activities, including a newsletter, the scientific journal of the KNBV "Plant Biology", excursions and lectures in various fields organized by specialized sections.
