Abstract: This congress is the first organised specifically for Southeast Asian birds. It is our hope that it will become a regular event in the region in future years. It is anticipated that there will be a number of plenary addresses by renowned ornithologists discussing current topics in Southeast Asian ornithology. The topics will be drawn from conservation biology, taxonomy/ systematics, biogeography and ecology. In order to maximise opportunities for combining some field work with the lectures, presentations, and discussions at the Congress, we are moving the meeting to the exceptional Khao Lak Laguna Resort.
