Wireless Remote Animal Monitoring
Title: Wireless Remote Animal Monitoring
Title abbreviated: WRAM
Identifier: http://www-wram.slu.se/
Creator: Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet / Institutionen för vilt, fisk och miljö
Abstract: Our objective is to provide an open platform- and location-independent database network to store, share, secure and analyze wireless remote animal monitoring (WRAM) data. The database will be accessible for all participating researchers and research groups and will be integrated with existing and future local analysis tools as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or statistical packages. During the project we will a) migrate an existing cross-project database system for wildlife tracking and telemetry data into a new national WRAM database node e-infrastructure for sensor-derived data, b) integrate the new WRAM infrastructure into the Swedish LifeWatch initiative, c) nurture the established network of researchers to enhance scientific outcome from collected data by enhanced co-operation, and d) disseminate the knowledge on handling of large datasets and databases in general, and the awareness of the WRAM e-infrastructure among environmental researchers and graduate students using tracking devices and other remote data sensors.
