Abstract: The Lepidopterists' Society was the idea of C.L. Remington and H.K. Clench. In March 1947 (Cambridge, Massachusetts), they founded this association to promote the scientifically sound and progressive study of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) by: distributing a periodical on Lepidoptera and facilitating the exchange of specimens and ideas by both the professional worker and the interested amateur in the field. Thus, the society publishes the Journal of the Lepidopterists' Society and the News of the Lepidoperists' Society. Previous issues of the journal are downloadable.
