Abstract: The I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kiev is the oldest institution in Ukraine specialised in general zoology. At first a zoological Museum was founded in May 1919 and from this first step the Institute of Zoology originated. Institute of Zoology was officially founded in August 1, 1930.
