| Abstract: | In the Department of Botanical Sciences of Pisa University, a database of chromosome numbers for the Italian flora has been in use for over thirty-five years. In order to make this wealth of data available to the scientific community world wide, a project was started in 2002, aimed at creating an on-line clearing house for chromosome number of Italian flora. The current dataset covers approximately half the Italian flora, with 3010 taxa.
