We are pleased to announce the Cold Spring Harbor Asia conference on DNA Metabolism, Genomic Stability & Human Disease which will be held in Suzhou, China, located approximately 60 miles west of Shanghai. The conference will begin at 7:00pm on the evening of Monday June 11, and will conclude after lunch on June 15, 2018. The conference will include eight oral sessions and one poster session covering the latest findings across many topics in DNA metabolism. Many talks will be selected from the openly submitted abstracts on the basis of scientific merit and relevance. Social events throughout the conference provide ample opportunity for informal interactions. The major topics are DNA replication & replication fork stability, Repair of DNA lesions, Chromatin structure & DNA metabolism, Genomic instability & disease. ... There has been tremendous progress in the past few years regarding our understanding of DNA replication in eukaryotes, both yeast and mammals. Many important questions in the field are poised to be answered within the next decade. These include understanding DNA replication at the biochemical and three-dimensional protein structure levels. In addition, studies using high throughput technologies at the cellular and organismal levels are poised to answer how accurate replication of the genome is ensured by controlling origin firing in space and time. Several human diseases, including cancer, have already been linked to DNA replication stress, a term that refers to perturbations in DNA replication. Therefore, a better understanding of how cells respond to this will help us understand disease development and responses to therapy. By bringing together experts in the basic biology of DNA replication and DNA replication stress, this symposium aims to fuel further progress in these important fields. ... This symposium will build on the first meeting which took place in 2016. Microbiologists and immunologists will again come together to provide different viewpoints on the same problems in joint sessions. While maintaining continuity in topics, the meeting concept will be evolved by introducing novel sessions on bacterial defenses against innate immunity, an area prominently covered by abstract submissions in the 2016 meeting, and on fungus host interactions, an under-researched area of great medical importance ... This interdisciplinary symposium will highlight exciting new insights into the molecular principles that govern the functional framework of genomes in space and time. The meeting program will cover all levels of organisational complexity, from DNA to chromosomes, and in model systems ranging from bacteria to humans. A particular highlight will be the integration of discoveries made in different disciplines, including cell and molecular biology, biophysics, modelling, structural biology and biochemistry. ... The field of immunometabolism has thrived over the last decade, revealing not only the major roles played by immune cells in metabolic homeostasis but also the impact of metabolic pathways on immune cell function. As new discoveries continue to reveal the intricate links between immunology and metabolism, a key question arises: will our accumulated knowledge on immunometabolic deregulations translate into novel therapies for human diseases? During this Cell Symposium, you will hear about the latest advances in immunometabolism from physician-scientists, basic researchers and industry leaders. We will discuss how local and systemic metabolism are integrated at the cellular level to regulate immune cell function and we will focus on how novel insights into immunometabolism can be harnessed to advance and/or bolster therapeutic interventions in metabolic diseases, inflammation, autoimmunity, and cancer. ... This meeting brings together scientists who have interests in aging, metabolism, and immunology to explore the growing intersection between these fields and to discuss key questions and important areas of future investigation. Our aim is to spur the progress of efforts to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the aging process, so as to inform current approaches of disease treatment and prevention, and to provide an improved understanding of healthy aging. ... Medicinal and aromatic plants in many forms have been used since the ancient times in the traditional medicinal practices for health care. According to the WHO report, medicinal plants are accessible, affordable and culturally appropriate sources of primary health care for more than 80% of the world population relies on traditional medicine largely plant based for their primary healthcare needs. The 7th Global Summit on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants is therefore being organized from November 19-21, 2018 at The Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The theme of the summit will be: Herbal Medicinen in Health Care". ... [Information of the supplier, modified]
